Shelby CountyTennesseeLee Harris, MayorQUESTIONS & ANSWERS No. 5Issued: March 6, 2026Whitehaven Clinic Construction(Health Services Department)TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS:The following question(s) were submitted by potential bidders with answers listed below in red:• Question & Answers #2, indicated in the reply to Q-23 that the “Medical equipment isOFOI.” The Exam Tables (TB-6) would appear to be “Medical Equipment” and thusOFOI. Please clarify if that is NOT correct. The contractor is to bid equipment asscheduled. The exam table is considered furniture and is scheduled as such and is shownon the A-900 series sheets from Addendum No. 6.• The specifications for the structural steel require that both the Structural Steel Fabricator andthe Erector be AISC Certified. This has been raised several times in the past, as there is not anAISC Certified Fabricator in the Memphis area. The closest one is in Nashville. Typically, this ischanged to require that the Fabricator and Erector follow AISC guidelines and procedures, whichthey all do as an industry standard. If we can get pricing from the fabricator in Nashville, it willbe considerably more expensive due to not only the additional shipping cost, but the costassociated with AISC as well. Please clarify if doing the work per the AISC standards will beacceptable.Contractor is to bid the Documents as specified• Good morning. We have been doing our best to assist subcontractors with their plethoraof questions, in the same manner that you have answered a multitude of GCquestions. The following likely just needs a clarification, but for now, it has me stumpedand I could use your help: (1) On Sheets A-131-A & B, you have two SecurityDesks. A portion of both desks has a radiused front, the problem is that said front alsohas solid surface Quartz laminated to it (the details on A-210 and A-507 confirm thequartz veneer). This product does not bend. Can you please clarify what the radiused1portion of these two desks needs to be given the called-out product’s limitations? Quartzcan be bent to a radius if heated use a process called thermoforming. (2) On RFIResponse #2, you address Question #174 as stating the Dental Clinic has been “re-purposed” as office space and all associated Dental Clinic “exam rooms” and their relatedmillwork no longer exist, can you please give a listing of these rooms by room number sothat there is no confusion. We will not provide the rooms numbers affected on the 3rdfloor. The bidding GC needs to compare the initial sheets with the revised sheets issuedunder Addendum No. 6. I would not be opposed to another bid-date extension (maybe 2-weeks) in order to make sure all interested bidders are clear on the RFI’s and addendaand addenda drawings. The due date will not be extended and remains March 16, 2026@ 2:00 p.m.Sincerely,Original Signature on FileCarla Hayes, BuyerPurchasing DepartmentShelby County Government2
