Bid Title: Construction Services for Courthouse Remodel
Category: Facilities Status: Open Description: The purpose of this Invitation for Bid (IFB) is to solicit bids through competitive sealed bidding for the purpose of construction work at the historic courthouse complex in Stanardsville from qualified contractors. It is anticipated that one contractor will be selected. The majority of the work will be within the lower courtroom. The work will generally include, but shall not be limited to, labor, equipment, fuel, tools, materials, supervision, and incidentals necessary to provide the timely, safe, and effective execution of the work detailed in this solicitation. Bids are to be inclusive of all costs associated with the work detailed in the scope of work below.
The County of Greene seeks sealed bids for construction services at the County’s historic courthouse complex, 85 Stanard St. in Stanardsville.
Specific work for the base bid includes, but is not necessarily limited to:
- Replace all existing can lights with new LED lights and retrofit existing T8s with LED lights
- Scrape, patch, and paint walls, trim, windows, and doors
- Replace all ceiling tiles and repair and replace broken grid
- Replace all bathroom counters, sinks, partitions, and vent fans, and patch and paint walls and ceilings
- Replace all switches, outlets, and covers
- Paint remaining exterior and replace or repair wrought iron rails
- Replace all the old green countertops in clerk’s office and judges chamber downstairs
- Paint and stain wood trim, bench, and the witness stand
- Add bullet glazing to three exterior windows and mirror tint so others cannot see in (needs a protection in front of the window so no one can walk up to the windows)
- Bullet proof the judge’s bench with steel plate
- Extend the three overhangs on the front of the judge’s bench
The Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, fuel, tools, materials, supervision, and incidentals necessary to provide a timely, safe, and effective execution of the work detailed in this solicitation. Bids are to be inclusive of all costs associated with the work detailed in this scope. There are no plans or drawings of these buildings. It is the responsibility of the contractor to maintain all required licensing andtraining for his/her employees to provide the services as stated in this IFB.b. The contractor shall supply copies of all licenses to Greene County, upon request.c. A Greene County Business License will be required by the selected vendor. Acontractor without a Greene County Business License may submit a bid but will berequired to get one prior to starting work. The contractor is responsible for the costto acquire the license.d. Insurance: The contractor shall agree to provide a certificate of insurance namingthe County of Greene as additional insured, and, if requested, a certified copy ofsaid policy or endorsement(s) before commencement of the contract. All insuranceshall be placed with an insurer licensed to do business in the Commonwealth ofVirginia. The underwriter shall be subject to the approval of the County of Greene.The contractor shall maintain limits no less than:i. General Commercial Liability: $1,000,000 (one million dollars) combinedsingle limit per occurrence for bodily injury, personal injury and propertydamage.ii. Worker’s Compensation and Employer’s Liability: Worker’s Compensationas required by the Code of the Commonwealth of Virginia and Employer’sLiability with limits of $1,000,000 (one million dollars) per accident.iv. Qualified contractors shall provide appropriate information in accordance with thecontent and format requirements of this Invitation for Bid.
