Contractors shall acknowledge this clarification as part of their bid submission. Failure to do somay subject the prospective bidder to disqualification.I. On Sheet 2.00, Demolition Note #6 states that pavers shall be removed and stockpiled for reinstallation. Is this thecase or should the existing pavers be disposed off-site?All existing pavers shall be removed and disposed of. The part of Demolition note #6 stating existing pavers shallbe stockpiled and reinstalled can be disregarded. The remainder of these notes shall remain applicable.II. Bid Item #16, Construct Underdrainage System Complete, does that include the 8" Drainage base stone and 2"drainage finish stone across the entire site, specifically the sod areas, as shown on the Sheet 7.01 details? If so, is thesod to be installed directly on top of the finish stone per the details on Sheet 7.01 or will a 6" layer of topsoil beinstalled per the details on Sheet 7.02? If 6" of topsoil is required, does that go directly on top of the drainage basestone and underdrains?The line item “Construct Underdrainage System, Complete”, includes the 8” drainage stone across the entire site.Within the sodded areas, 6” of topsoil is to be placed on top of an 8” drainage stone layer with a geotextile fabricmembrane separating the two. No fabric is required for existing soil. Please see below for an updated detailreflecting this as described.III. Bid Item #E1, Landscaping Improvements, specifies plant material but no landscape plan is included in this plan set.Is there a landscape plan with a plant list for this project or what is Bid Item #E1 supposed to include?:Planting schedules have been included in the specifications. Locations for plantings will be as directed by theTownship Engineer.END OF CLARIFICATION #1SECTION 329300 – LANDSCAPINGPART 1 – GENERAL1.1 DESCRIPTIONA. Landscaping shall consist of the furnishing, delivering, installing, monitoring andmaintaining, planting of all trees, shrubs, plants, and plantings, “Plant Material”, inthe location shown on the Plans and noted in the plant list and all incidental workrelated thereto. Landscaping shall include watering all landscape plantings andproviding tree gator or approved equal tree watering bags for all shade treesproposed on the Landscape Plan.1.2 PLANT ESTABLISHMENT PERIODA. The Engineer will re-inspect the plants approximately 1 year after the start of the plantestablishment period. Replace without cost to Owner, within three weeks or as soonas weather and soil conditions permit, plants that are more than 25 percent dead orin an unhealthy condition as determined by the Engineer.B. The Engineer will re-inspect the plants approximately 2 years after the start of theplant establishment period. Replace without cost to Owner, within three weeks or assoon as weather and soil conditions permit, plants that are more than 25 percent deador in an unhealthy condition as determined by the Engineer.C. In addition to a tree’s death, health or structural issues that significantly jeopardizethe survivability, proper development, and/or long-term structural integrity of thetree shall be cause for replacement under this guarantee.PART 2 – PRODUCTS2.1 SHADE AND FLOWERING TREESA. Furnish nursery-grown trees in accordance with good horticultural practices underclimatic conditions similar to those of the Project for at least two years, unlessspecifically noted otherwise. Documentation confirming the point of origin shall beprovided to the Engineer prior to delivery.B. Trees shall comply with ANSI Z60.1, with healthy root systems developed bytransplanting or root pruning. Trees and shrubs shall exceed AAN standards forquality by being exceptionally heavy, uniform, so trained or favored in developmentand appearance as to be superior in form, density and spread of branches,compactness, and symmetry. Determination of quality shall be made by the Engineer.Provide well-shaped, fully branched, healthy, vigorous stock free of disease, insects,eggs, larvae, and defects such as knots, sun scald, leaf spotting, injuries, abrasions,DEGNAN PARK COMMUNITY GARDEN AND OUTDOOR FITNESS AREA IMPROVEMENTSTOWNSHIP OF WEST ORANGE, ESSEX COUNTY, NEW JERSEYPage 147 of 175and disfigurement. All trees shall be quality, nursery-grown stock. Inferior, “B” gradeand or “park” grade tree will not be accepted.C. All trees shall be delivered in a healthy and vigorous condition and free of insects,diseases, girdling roots, and wounds.D. All single-stemmed trees shall have a single, strong, straight central leader, unlessotherwise noted or appropriate for the species.E. All trees shall have a well-developed, well-spaced and reasonably symmetrical branchscaffold with strong branch attachments. Crown form shall be appropriate for theparticular species or variety.F. Root ball diameter and depth and the ratio of caliber to height shall be within theproportions set forth in the American Standard for Nursery Stock.G. Grade: Provide trees and shrubs of sizes and grades complying with ANSI Z60.1 fortype of trees and shrubs required. Trees and shrubs of a larger size may be used ifacceptable to Landscape Architect, with a proportionate increase in size of roots orballs.H. Label at least one tree of each variety and caliper with a securely attached, waterprooftag bearing legible designation of botanical and common name.I. Shade Trees: Single-stem trees with straight trunk, well-balanced crown, and intactleader, of height and caliper indicated, complying with ANSI Z60.1 for type of treesrequiredJ. Provide balled and burlapped grown trees.K. Branching Height: One-third to one-half of tree height. For street trees branchingheight shall be one half of tree heightL. Multi-stem Trees: Branched or pruned naturally according to species and type, withrelationship of caliper, height, and branching according to ANSI Z60.1; clump stemform. Provide balled and burlapped tree.2.2 DECIDUOUS SHRUBSA. Form and Size: Deciduous shrubs with not less than the minimum number of canesrequired by and measured according to ANSI Z60.1 for type, shape, and height ofshrub. Provide balled and burlapped and container-grown shrubs as indicated on theplant list.B.
