Question
1. Can Manufacturers submit less than full cases
for samples?
2. Please confirm that the Oracle bulk load catalog
is not required for this bid since it id for food
service.
3. Are brokers allowed to bid direct to warehouse
for Commodity bid?
Answer
Yes, we will accept partial cases. The
packages need to be properly labeled and
include all required documents. The
number of servings provided need to be
sufficient for effective testing for the
evaluation committee.
Correct, Bulk Load is NOT required for
this RFP.
The supplier needs to be the manufacturer
that is providing the commodity processed
foods.
4. Will both the commodity and commercial
versions of the item be awarded to a single
vendor, or will they be awarded separately - one
vendor for the commodity line and another for
the commercial line?
We award one vendor to both lines. For
example, if you are award for Line 7, then
you would be awarded both commodity
and commercial pricing. Not all awards
will receive commodity allocations so we
would purchase using commercial pricing.

5. There are two bid lines noted on this RFP which
we need clarification. Does this mean a school We award one vendor to both lines. For
intends to purchase approximately 2000 cases of example, if you are award for Line 7, then
Commodity Calzone (example) initially, and you would be awarded both commodity
then transition to 200 cases of Commercial
and commercial pricing. Not all awards
Calzones once the commodity pounds are
will receive commodity allocations so we
depleted?
would purchase using commercial pricing.
6. Will you allow manufacturers to bid on the
commercial line only and not the commodity
line?
7. In reviewing the line items, will Garland provide
SUPC or item number for them? Having those
details would really help us search for the exact
matches, or suitable equivalents that align with
Garland ISD's requirements.
8. Could you clarify the response to our question
regarding the line items 52.01 and 52.02? It
mentions a preference for whole grain-rich
breading but the item in question isn't breaded?
If you only have a commercial product,
then you will submit your pricing for both
lines and indicate that you only have a
commercial item.
We require that the item meets the
specifications. A specific item number is
not also requested to allow for similar
products to be bid.
For clarification, line 52 is a non-breaded
item.
9. Regarding line items 52.01 and 52.02, would a
certified gluten-free chicken breast patty made
with whole muscle product be acceptable?
10. Will there be an extension for this proposal?
Yes, this will be considered for evaluation.
Yes, it will be extended to January 6th by
10:30 am. Hard Copies along with a
thumb drive of the spreadsheet of line
items will be required if the system
(Oracle) is still not working.
