RFB # 25-027 WELL 16 REHABILITATION Project Scope:
• Remove the pumping equipment from the well, the Contractor shall inspect the existing pump bowl, column pipe, enclosed oil tubing, line shaft, other pump column assembly components and discharge head and provide a written report for the pump equipment to the Engineer on the condition of the materials and equipment, a list of the material(s) and equipment that need to be replaced or reconditioned and the cause or causes of any failures or damage to the materials.
• Perform one video survey and present video and written report of findings (well depth approximately 2,867 feet).
• Well Evaluation: Contractor to supply all necessary equipment to set a pump to a 600’ setting and produce 3,000 gpm. After an initial water static level, pump test will last for 1 hour with water pumping levels obtained on 15 minute intervals (Bid Alternate Number 1).
• Add 160 feet of new column pipe to match existing material. Column shall be ANSI Thread and Coupled 12-inch diameter steel pipe with a 0.375 wall thickness.
• Add 160 feet of new line shaft to match existing material. Line shaft shall be machined, ground, and polished precision shafting of ample size to operate the pump without distortion or vibration. Line shaft shall be furnished in interchangeable sections not over 20’ in length and shall be coupled with high grade, machined steel couplings. Line shaft shall be 2 3/16-inches in diameter solid shaft.
• Add 160 feet of new shaft enclosure tube to match existing material. Shaft enclosing tube shall consist of interchangeable sections not over five-feet (5') in length of Schedule 80 steel pipe to receive bronze couplings which act as line shaft bearings. Tubing shall be 3 1/2-inches in diameter.
• Column pipe spacers shall be replaced. Spacers shall be on 10 foot intervals.
• Replace all existing bronze couplings which act as line shaft bearings (approximately 100).
• Existing fabricated steel discharge head with separate base plate and ANSI Class 125 flanged outlet above ground was rated to carry the maximum down-thrust the electric can provide. Evaluate existing discharge head to ensure it is adequate for additional load of new pump setting. Replace/modify as necessary.
• Supply a new, 9 stage Goulds Pump Model 18DMC.
• Refurbish the existing 7 stage Goulds Pump Model 18DMC and add 2 additional stages bringing it to a 9 stage pump (spare pump).
• Install the new 9 stage Goulds Pump Model 18DMC to a pump setting of 660 feet utilizing the existing 10-foot (10') section of 10-inch (10") diameter suction pipe with accompanying cone strainer connected to the bottom of the bowl assembly.
• The deep well shall be equipped with a 1/4-inch (1/4") Dekron coated stainless steel airline, gage and necessary fittings to extend from the surface to the bottom of the column pipe (660’). The airline shall be a continuous line with no fittings. The 4 1/2-inch (4 1/2") diameter gage shall be calibrated to read in feet of H2O. A suitable connection and an air pump shall be furnished for testing the well.
• Disinfect the well as per AWWA standards.
• Flush the well and collect applicable bacteriological samples (coordinate with City staff).
• Final performance test to ensure operational status of equipment. Perform a complete pump test including static and pumping levels, flow rates, motor amperage, and all other information normally checked on a maintenance type pump test on an existing well. Run the pump test for three (3) hours. Include flows and meter readings at:
o 0 psi discharge
o 10 psi discharge
o 40 psi discharge
o Show flows by sonic meter or orifice and compare those to magnetic meter installed. Note: Pump bowl manufacturer shall be Goulds/Xylem. Prior to ordering the new pump bowl(s), the Contractor shall submit manufacturer and pump bowl information and a copy of the pump performance curve for the proposed permanent pump to the Engineer for review and approval prior to final selection of the pump bowl. The following pump performance data should be submitted: a pump performance curve with head-capacity data, including head, efficiency, and brake horsepower versus flow capacity; operating speed; and required submergence. Identify cut-off point, rated point, and minimum head at which pump operates without vibration and cavitation.
