Description: The City of Independence, Kansas, is accepting bids for the abatement of asbestos located at 212 W. Laurel Street. Bids will be received by the City of Independence, Kansas, at the office of the City Clerk, 120 N. 6th Street, Independence, Kansas, until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at which time bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bids may be submitted by mail, electronic email or hand delivery to the City Clerk. The City of Independence, Kansas reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, to waive any informalities, irregularities, or technical defects in any bid, and to award the contract in the best interest of the City. The City reserves the right to inspect the work at any time during the abatement process and to request copies of permits, notifications, manifests, disposal records, and other compliance documentation. Portions of the affected walls may be covered with paneling, wallpaper, wood coverings, or other finish materials that conceal the underlying ACM-containing surfaces.
