OverviewPost InformationPosted At:Wed, Nov 13, 2024 4:00 PMSealed Bid Process:Yes (Bids Sealed / Pricing Sealed)Private Bid:NoSummaryThe Learner, Engagement, Attendance Program (LEAP) initiative targets students K-12 identified as severely (15-17 days absent) or extremely chronically absent (18+ days absent) from school. With support from community-based organizations, New Haven Public Schools aims to ensure a seamless transition back into the school building for students identified by NHPS absenteeism data.
New Haven Public Schools seeks partnerships with local community-based organizations with deep connections within the New Haven Community to support the goal of re-engaging students back into their buildings and providing them with the support needed to stay in school. Community-based organizations support New Haven Public Schools in making outreach efforts to families/students (phone calls and setting up home visiting meetings), home visits with face-to-face contact with students and families, providing the district with case management notes regarding the connection, and present to all NHPS scheduled meetings and trainings.BackgroundNew Haven Public School's goal is to reduce the number of chronically absent students in the district and re-engage them in the classroom to avoid further decline in overall performance. The partnership between NHPS and Community-based organizations aims to expand resources to redirect students back to school. By expanding our community reach, we aim to reduce the district's Chronic Absenteeism rate.
