Overview

Summary

Alachua County is undertaking a comprehensive replacement of detention-grade sliding door operating devices at the Alachua County Jail, located at 3333 NE 39th Ave, Gainesville, FL 32609. The project includes removing existing sliding door mechanisms and installing new, detention-rated sliding device assemblies for multiple door types throughout the facility, including double sliding devices in corridor areas, pod entry sliding devices, and single sliding devices in various housing units. Each sliding door device is proprietary in nature and varies by housing pod. As a result, proposers shall include time for onsite field investigation and verification of existing housings, door configurations, clearances, mounting conditions, and mechanical interfaces prior to finalizing submittals or fabrication.

Work will include demolition of old components, installation of new operating mechanisms, reinstallation and adjustment of existing detention doors, security caulking, anchoring, hardware installation, and full operational testing. All work must maintain facility security at all times. Doors may only be removed one at a time as they are actively being worked on; simultaneous removal of multiple doors is not permitted.

Pre-Proposal Meeting (Mandatory):
May 12, 2026, 1:30pm
3333 NE 39th Ave, Gainesville, FL 32609

Be advised that the Pre‑Bid Meeting has been rescheduled to May 12, 2026 at 1:30 pm.

All vendors intending to participate and submit a bid are required to complete a soft background check prior to being granted access to secure areas.

To initiate the background check, vendors must contact Administrative Assistant (AA) Shayna Lillie at:
(352) 491-4560 between the hours of 0800-1600 or you can email her at slillie@alachuasheriff.org . AA Lillie will need to be provided with the name of the vendor, the best point of contact with a phone number, and the number of individuals expected to be present at the pre-bid meeting. Once the deadline for submission has been reached, AA Lillie will provide the list to the sergeants responsible for vendor building access and they will make contact with the provided points of contact to receive the necessary information.

The simplest way to complete the process would be to have the points of contact scan and email a copy of the driver’s licenses of the individuals that will need to have access to the secure facility and separately, provide their social security number over the telephone in order to keep it off the public domain.

Deadline: No later than May 6, 2026

Please note that failure to complete the required background check by the stated deadline will result in the vendor being deemed ineligible to participate in the Mandatory Pre‑Bid Meeting.
