Overview

Summary

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office provides contracted policing services for all unincorporated areas of San Mateo County, California, and the contracted cities/towns of Half Moon Bay, Millbrae, San Carlos, Portola Valley, and Woodside, as well as the Transit Police Bureau. The Sheriff's Office also operates the County’s two adult correctional facilities.

The Sheriff's Office website ( https://www.smcsheriff.com/) serves as a resource hub for the community. The information listed on the website is critical to supporting office-wide operations and ensuring accessibility, transparency, and timely communication for business owners, community members and visitors. The website ties together a complex web of content, programs, services and public safety resources with the desired outcome of delivering a unified digital experience for the communities we serve.

The Sheriff's Office website, built on Drupal, requires ongoing content management, security maintenance and regular updates. The existing contract is set to expire, and the Sheriff's Office is preparing to issue a Request for Proposals to maintain, enhance and improve the current website.

The selected vendor will provide technical assistance for routine content updates, investigate and provide solutions to potential issues affecting the performance of the sites, broken links, update security patches, core module updates, provide information regarding the site structure, database, etc. The contract also includes charges for hosting the “smc-inmatelocator.org” website. The contract will be for a 36-month/three (3) year term, subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.

Background

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office seeks qualified vendors to provide website design, development, hosting, and ongoing technical support services across multiple platforms, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Wix, and WordPress.

The intent is to establish one contract to ensure professional, secure, and reliable web presence management across all supported platforms.
