This program will assist with creating synergy within Oklahoma’s tobacco control movement to reduce the burden of tobacco within the Native American/American Indian (NA/AI) communities based on data. 2023 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) data shows NA/AI having the highest smoking prevalence among Oklahomans with 22.9% of all smokers identifying as NA/AI. The next highest prevalence are Oklahomans identifying as multiracial which cannot be parsed out to identify any one population. Oklahomans identifying as white account for 15.3% of all adult smokers and those identifying as black account for 15.4%. Specifically, comprehensive tobacco prevention programs will be developed in collaboration with the Oklahoma State Department of Health to strengthen efforts to:
1. Reduce commercial tobacco use and abuse among Native American/American Indian Oklahomans (teens and adults) as well as other within their service area.
2. Decrease or eliminate exposure to commercial secondhand smoke by promoting and facilitating adoption of tobacco-free worksite policies.
3. Promote commercial tobacco cessation resources among youth and adults throughout their service area.
4. Prevent youth initiation to commercial tobacco using a combination of education and outreach shown to effectively impact individuals under the age of 21.Event Start Date10/09/2025 08:13 AM CSTEvent End Date04/16/2026 03:00 PM CSTEvent Round1Event Version1Event FormatSellEvent TypeRFxEdits to Submitted BidsYesPayment TermsLine NumberBid MandatoryItem DescriptionRequested Quantity/UOMComments and Attachments1YesFY26, DOA - 06/30/26, RFP for Tobacco use prevention and cessation.1.0000YEAR - Commodity Codes
