Description

This is a SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY. The purpose of this sources sought is for market research to gain knowledge of potential sources for future needs including interested small business sources. This notice is for planning purposes only. All interested parties should respond.



Kansas Air National Guard, McConnell AFB will soon be soliciting for a project for Backflow Preventer Upgrades. The work shall consist of removal of the five backflow preventer systems varying in size and purpose and the installation of five new backflow preventer systems, replacing the existing systems. The contractor will be responsible for removal, proper sizing, connections, installation of the new backflow preventers, testing/certifying, and when complete there will be no defects nor leaks. The project needs to include the following:




  1. Building 33, Southwest Bay – 6-inch diameter Backflow Preventer System for Fire Suppression

    1. Remove the existing 6-inch diameter Fire Suppression Backflow Prevention System.

    2. Install a new 6-inch diameter Fire Suppression Backflow Prevention System.

    3. Testing of the newly installed 6-inch diameter Fire Suppression Backflow Prevention System by a certified installer/tester that meets the requirements set up by the board of appeals of plumbers and gas fitters of the city of Wichita & Sedwick County.

    4. Upon completion of the certification of the Backflow Prevention System, provide the 184 CES/CEO with the following:

      1. Backflow Prevention System’s Installation Date

      2. Backflow Prevention System’s Manufacture

      3. Backflow Prevention System’s Model

      4. Backflow Prevention System’s Serial Number

      5. Backflow Prevention System’s Rebuild Kit Specifications

      6. Backflow Prevention System’s Description





  2. Building 44, Room 122, South wall – 4-inch diameter Backflow Preventer System for Fire Suppression and Double Check Valve

    1. Remove the existing 4-inch diameter Fire Suppression and Double Check Valve Backflow Prevention System.

    2. Install a new 4-inch diameter Fire Suppression and Double Check Valve Backflow Prevention System.

    3. Testing of the newly installed 4-inch diameter Fire Suppression and Double Check Valve Backflow Prevention System by a certified installer/tester that meets the requirements set up by the board of appeals of plumbers and gas fitters of the city of Wichita & Sedwick County.

    4. Upon completion of the certification of the Backflow Prevention System, provide the 184 CES/CEO with the following:

    1. Remove the existing 1-inch diameter Boiler Makeup Backflow Prevention System.

    2. Install a new 1-inch diameter Boiler Makeup Backflow Prevention System.

    3. Testing of the newly installed 1-inch diameter Boiler Makeup Backflow Prevention System by a certified installer/tester that meets the requirements set up by the board of appeals of plumbers and gas fitters of the city of Wichita & Sedwick County.

    4. Upon completion of the certification of the Backflow Prevention System, provide the 184 CES/CEO with the following:

      2. Backflow Prevention System’s Manufacture

    1. Remove the existing 2.5-inch diameter domestic water Backflow Prevention System.

    2. Install a new 2.5-inch diameter domestic water Backflow Prevention System.

    3. Testing of the newly installed 2.5-inch diameter domestic water Backflow Prevention System by a certified installer/tester that meets the requirements set up by the board of appeals of plumbers and gas fitters of the city of Wichita & Sedwick County.

    4. Upon completion of the certification of the Backflow Prevention System, provide the 184 CES/CEO with the following:

      1. Backflow Prevention System’s Installation Date

      2. Backflow Prevention System’s Manufacture

      3. Backflow Prevention System’s Model

For this requirement, the small business size standard is $19 million for NAICS 238220. In the event small business In the event small business contractors are not avaialble for adequate competition for this project, it may be advertised as unrestricted.
