PROJECT NAME:

The City of Victorville is seeking qualified contractors to install a new main gas line at the Animal Care and Adoption Center. The project includes trenching, saw cutting, concrete cutting, installation of gas piping, testing, and backfilling. Final surface restoration, including concrete and sod replacement, will be performed by City staff. The work requires coordination with utility providers and must comply with all applicable codes and safety standards.

This project is classified as a public works project and is subject to California prevailing wage requirements. Contractors and all subcontractors must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) and provide certified payroll records. The selected contractor must hold a valid Class A General Engineering Contractor license and demonstrate experience with similar underground utility projects.

The contractor will be required to provide 100% performance and payment bonds, maintain all required insurance coverage, and accept 5% retention until project completion and acceptance. The City of Victorville Animal Care and Adoption Center requires a new main gas line to serve the Administration Building, which supports hot water needs for restrooms, staff areas, and newly installed water lines and tankless water heaters.

Previous gas line air testing failed, and no exposed leaks were identified, indicating likely deficiencies within the existing underground gas lines. Due to these conditions, replacement of the in-ground gas infrastructure is necessary to provide a safe, reliable gas supply and ensure the system can pass required testing and operate in compliance with applicable codes.
