1. Total memory requirement (1.25 TB)The RFP specifies 1.25 TB total memory for the virtualization hardware. For a 4-node cluster, the closestpractical configurations we can provide (while keeping DIMMs in a properly balanced configuration) areapproximately 1.1 TB or 2.0 TB of total RAM.• Do you have a preference between 1.1 TB or 2.0 TB total RAM for the cluster? We would rather be more than less so 2.0 TB would be our preference.2. Virtualization architecture and hypervisor preferenceWe understand from the RFP that the district is open to diPerent software solutions and architectures aslong as requirements are met. To align our proposal with your priorities around cost, long-term solutions, and flexibility:• Do you have a preferred architecture for this design? Specifically, 3-tier or hyper-converged?Examples listed below.o Example 1 : 3- tier design (separate compute & storage)o Example 2: Hyper converged solutionHyper converged solution would be preferred however we would not be opposed to a 3-tiered solution solong as it meets the objectives.3. Can bidders submit 2 options for this response? One for each of the above architectures?Yes, that would be great.4. Storage capacity – 96 TB requirementThe RFP states a requirement for 96 TBs for data.• Does the 96 TB refer to usable capacity before data reduction, or ePective capacity after datareduction and compression?96 TB refers to usable capacity before data reduction.• Approximately how much capacity is currently consumed on your existing VxRail cluster?Approximately 48 TB.5. Workload types and data profileTo size and design the solution appropriately (performance, capacity, data reduction expectations), itwould be helpful to understand the rough breakdown of your workloads. For example, something like:• Databases without compression or encryption: (Please provide approximate capacity)- EX: (25TB)24.53 TB• General purpose VMs: (Please provide approximate capacity)4.28 TB• File services (non-rich media): (Please provide approximate capacity)14.60 TB• File services (rich media): (Please provide approximate capacity)2.24 TB• Messaging / email: (Please provide approximate capacity)0• Databases with some compression: (Please provide approximate capacity)06. Network infrastructure• Which switch models/vendors and network speeds are currently in use for your VxRailinfrastructure?Dell s4128• Are you also planning to refresh the switches, or should we assume the networking layer willremain as is?We would prefer these to be part of the upgrade proposal if possible.7. Power• What power voltage is available in the data center for this equipment (for example, 100–120V or200–240V circuits)? Our PDUs have 120v and 220v1. Please provide the output of RVtools for the current cluster. This will assist in sizing backupsolutions.a. As we do not feel comfortable posting this to a public website. We will email thisdirectly to anyone requesting it. Please email that request to bids@usd450.net2. What is the retention policy for backup? (dailies, weeklies, monthlies, annual?a. We Keep dailies for 30 days, weeklies for 8 weeks, monthlies for 2 months and yearliesfor 2 years.3. If these polices change based on data type, please explain (general VM, database, fileserver, etc.)?a. These do not change based on data type.4. What is the daily rate of change? (If unknown, we will use defaults)?a. Unknown5. What is the annual growth rate? (If unknown, we will use defaults)?a. Unknown6. What is the oM-site architecture? (DR site, cloud, other)?a. Nothing that needs to be considered for this project.7. Is all data located on the virtualization cluster, or is there data in SaaS applications or cloud (M365or Google Workspace) that should be protected?a. Besides a couple of standalone Windows Servers located in the same Data Centerthere is no other data that we are aiming to protect.8. Does the district have any preferences for hardware vendors or any hardware vendors they wouldlike to avoid?a. We do not have any preferences.9. What is the network connectivity?a. We have SFP+ connectivity through Direct Attached Copper(DAC) and Multi-ModeFiber for data connections and Ethernet for Management.10. What type of power connection is needed? (NEMA 5-15p or C13/C14)a. C13/C1411. What term of maintenance is required?a. 5 Years12. What level of services are desired?a. We will just need simple configuration and setup of appliances.
