Office on Addiction Services Request for Proposals for Prevention Education Services 2026
The Mercer County Department of Human Services, Office on Addiction Services, is accepting proposals for the period of one year (January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026) with the option to extend for an additional year (January 1, 2027 – December 31, 2027), to provide Prevention Education Services for Mercer County residents in the amount of $80,000.00 annually. Funding will be made available in the service category:
- Prevention Education
These funds must be used to implement evidence-based programming. Programming can be directed at students and/or parents, and other community members that can benefit from prevention programs. Middle school and high school age students are most often targeted in prevention efforts because early adolescence is the time of life when substance use experimentation often begins to occur. A large body of research has examined the efficacy and effectiveness of prevention programs for adolescent substance abuse. Findings show that the most effective programs target salient risk and protective factors at the individual, family, and/or community levels, and are guided by relevant psychosocial theories regarding the etiology of substance use and abuse.
