Project Description

Description:	Dakota County Greenways is improving the trail user experience between CSAH 42 and USACE Lock and Dam #2. The existing trail pavement is failing and does not meet trail standards. The project aims to replace existing trail pavement and reduce the trail slope and curvature.
Additional Description:	Reclaim the first 900 ft of the existing trail from CSAH 42. Then, reconstruction of the trail begins and includes realignment and vertical profile adjustment. The existing overlook pavement is to be removed and replaced with soil and seeding and a shortened overlook trail will be constructed with existing benches and picnic tables salvaged and placed at the end of the overlook. The trail realignment and vertical change is significant, resulting in the trail being lowered as much as 10 ft in some locations. The trail lowering will require construction of a proposed retaining wall adjacent to the existing retaining wall. Final construction activities include seeding, shrub, and tree planting throughout the constrution area.
