OverviewPost InformationPosted At:Thu, Nov 6, 2025 3:40 PMSealed Bid Process:Yes (Bids Sealed / Pricing Sealed)Private Bid:NoSummaryThe City of Brentwood is seeking Statements of Qualifications for preparation of design documents for a creative, studious, ~1800 sq ft space specifically for teens that allows for individual and small group study, houses the teen collection (approximately 600 linear feet of shelving), and allows for Teen Programs to occur in the space as well. The entrance to the space should be impactful and set a theme. The overall theme of the teen space should be compatible with the John P. Holt Brentwood Library aesthetic, while also creating a vibe and space that is specific to teens .
The Request for Qualifications documents are available through the City’s e-Procurement Portal, OpenGov Procurement , or may be obtained at the Brentwood City Hall at 5211 Maryland Way, Brentwood, Tennessee, 37027, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

BackgroundThe John P. Holt Brentwood Library is an award-winning public library that was constructed in 1998 and expanded in 2009. High-quality design elements are incorporated throughout, with the Children's Library being particularly creative and immersive with a magical forest feel that inspires awe from Brentwood's children.
Funds were given to the Library several years ago specifically for larger capital projects. Three years ago a study was conducted that identified the Teen Space as a top priority. The City would like for the teen area to inspire the same reaction that patrons have when they enter the Children's area. Over the past six months the Library Board has worked on defining the vision for the space. Stakeholder surveys and an initial round of conceptual designs have been completed. Initial concept designs were quality products, but did not meet the City's expectation for creativity.
Statement of Work
The City is looking for an experienced firm with strong and creative interior design skills to transform an existing 1,800 sq.ft space in the John P. Holt Brentwood Library into an inviting and wow-inspiring space for teens. Specific experience with libraries is a plus, but not required. Experience in thematic design, whether for commercial retail, hospitality, entertainment, or otherwise, is desired. The successful firm will be able to demonstrate a creative and imaginative flair with previous projects.
The total project budget, inclusive of design , is expected to be between $750,000 and $1,000,000. The design engagement will consist of two phases (preliminary design and full design), with the second phase contingent upon the success of the first. The initial engagement for preliminary design will be for three (3) concept-level design renderings and corresponding estimates of probable cost. Design firm should expect a minimum of three (3) meetings with the Library Board and City staff to learn and understand the desires of key stakeholders. All relevant information gathered to-date will be provided to the firm. Once the City approves a concept, the firm will be engaged to conduct full design.
