SummaryThis project will consist of the replacement of approximately 3,620 linear feet (LF) of existing 6-foot high security fencing with 10-foot-high wildlife exclusion fencing.
The wildlife fencing upgrade for the airfield will consist of the following components:-
All fence will be 10-foot galvanized chainlink fence fabric with three-strand barbed wire
and a 4-foot buried wildlife exclusion skirt. - There will be no top rail on any fence, only a top wire.
- Where practical, the fence will have 5-foot clear areas on each side.
-
In-kind adjustments will be made to the landscaping, as needed, to provide necessary
clearance.
New access gates will be constructed to be manually operated, but will have v-tracks installed and will be a rolling-type with a 3-inch maximum gap between the bottom rail and the top of the V-rail. Concrete pads will be poured for the V-tracks. New gates will not be installed with operators, but will be prepared for operator installation.
Project Duration 90 calendar days to substantial completion and 30 calendar days to final.
Liquidated damages $1,685.00/day
BackgroundFlagler Executive Airport (FIN) began as a World War II-era U.S. Navy training site known as Naval Outlying Field Bunnell, used to support pilot training operations in northeast Florida; after the war, it was transferred to Flagler County and converted into a public-use airport, later known as Flagler County Airport, serving local aviation needs. In recent decades, significant investment in infrastructure—such as runway upgrades, an air traffic control tower, and expanded facilities—transformed it into a major general aviation hub, leading to its 2015 rebranding as Flagler Executive Airport to reflect its growing role in corporate aviation, with ongoing development, including a new terminal, continuing to modernize and expand its capabilities.
