Overview

Summary

The City is seeking a responsible vendor to conduct an underwater hull survey for the Battleship Ex-Wisconsin on an as-needed basis.

Background

The Department of the Navy donated the decommissioned USS Wisconsin (“Battleship Ex-Wisconsin”) to the City as a static museum and memorial with public access to the vessel. The Battleship Ex-Wisconsin is located next to Nauticus Maritime Museum in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. The City has an established maintenance and restoration plan that includes appropriate underwater testing and inspection of the hull, and such maintenance will permit the deferral of the requirement for dry-docking for an extended period of time.
