Category: Invitation to Bid Status: Open Description: The City of Bristol, Virginia, and all agencies thereof, are requesting sealed bids on specified types of non-calcareous crushed stone and sand.
The bidder will submit the following:
- One original and three copies of the sealed bid must be mailed to or hand-delivered to: ATTN: Nikki Asher, City of Bristol, VA, 300 Lee Street, Bristol, VA 24201
The outside envelope must be labeled with the ITB title and number, as follows: ITB # SW-27-001 Non-Calcareous Crushed Stone and Sand.- The City requires one original and three paper copies of the sealed bid. Those wishing to submit electronically may do so via the eVA procurement platform while also submitting the required paper copies to the City by the due date.
- Bids are due by 2:00 p.m. EST, June 11th, 2026.
It is the responsibility of the bidder to assure that the bid is delivered to the place designated for receipt of bid prior to the closing time set for receipt of bid. No bid received after the time designated shall be considered. The officer or agent, whose duty it is to accept the bids, will decide when the specified time has arrived.
It is the responsibility of the bidder to inquire and clarify any requirement that is not understood. All verbal questions are discouraged. The City will not be bound by verbal responses to questions. City reserves the right to waive use of the Department ofTransportation provided the material meets the specification(s) for the solid waste relatedapplication for which it is proposed to be used.Material Specifications:Coarse aggregate used in LFG extraction wells shall be VDOT No. 3 or other washed crushedstone between 1 inch and 2 inches in diameter, and shall be composed of clean, hard and durablefragments, free of silt, clay, dirt, vegetation, and other objectionable matter. Sieve analysis shallbe performed at the source at least weekly by ASTM 6913/2487 or other acceptable testmethod. Stone backfill shall be non-calcareous rock with a minimum of 90 percent non-calcium-carbonate material. Calcium carbonate content shall be measured by ASTM D4373 test methodat a frequency of at least one test per 500 tons. Additional testing shall be performed upon achange of source. Test results shall be provided to the City upon request.5
