GRANTPART I: OVERVIEWThe State of Louisiana is actively responding to the opioid crisis, a public health emergency thathas caused widespread harm across communities. As part of a national effort to address theimpact of opioid misuse, Louisiana has entered settlements resulting from litigation against majorpharmaceutical companies and distributors. These settlements are a critical step towardsremediation and provide significant financial resources for opioid epidemic abatement effortswithin the state. Louisiana is anticipated to receive approximately $354 million from these initialsettlements. St. Tammany Parish will be allotted a portion of these funds, expected to beapproximately $25 million over an 18-year period. The Louisiana Opioid Abatement Task Forcemonitors the allocation of funds to ensure that the funds are used effectively to address the opioidcrisis.1.1 Background/PurposeThe purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to obtain proposals from qualified Proposerswho are interested in providing an Opioid Abatement Settlement Grant proposal to addressprevention, treatment, and recovery services to those impacted by the opioid use disorder in St.Tammany Parish.
