The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) intends to enter a onetime agreement with Qiagen LLC to purchase reagents required for operation of the Infectious Disease Laboratory's QIAcube extraction instrument used in multiple diagnostic assays at MDH including the Measles Mumps and Rubella PCR, West Nile virus PCR, and Varicella Zoster Virus PCR.

This has been deemed a single source as Qiagen LLC is the only supplier that can provide these reagents which have undergone extensive validations; other reagents could not be used without extensive re-validation of the entire platform.
