STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:The State of Tennessee, Tennessee Historical Commission (THC) issues this Request forInformation (“RFI”) for the purpose of gathering information on vendor services and qualificationsfor historic preservation work. We appreciate your input and participation in this process.2. BACKGROUND:The THC’s State Historic Site (SHS) Program administers 19 properties of historical significanceacross the state of Tennessee. One of the responsibilities of the SHS Program is to administerthe maintenance and repair of the structures on those properties. These properties are inherentlyhistorically significant and require specialized skillsets to make maintenance repairs. Theserepairs also require adherence to the National Park Service Preservation Briefs and TechnicalPreservation Notes. The type of experience needed to adhere to these guidelines includes but isnot limited to window restoration, finishing carpentry, linseed oil and other historic paintingknowledge, historic roofing material knowledge, historic brick masonry/tuckpointing knowledge,and stone working knowledge. The THC is seeking information on services, qualifications, andavailability for vendors to fulfill ongoing maintenance requests and historic preservation needs toall 19 properties across the state.3. How do you ensure that original materials are preserved and replicated accurately?10. Do you have experience sourcing historically appropriate materials?
