SummaryThis project will install a new debris rack along Nine Mile Creek upstream of Belvoir Boulevard in the City of Cleveland. The debris rack will prevent large woody debris from entering and causing maintenance issues inside of the Belvoir Boulevard culvert crossing, as well as helping to extend the life of the culvert by preventing damage from large woody debris. A permanent access road for long-term maintenance of the debris rack will also be installed. The access road will be located within the Cities of Cleveland and Cleveland Heights. This work is listed in detail in Section 01 11 00 – Summary of Work.
BackgroundThe Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (Sewer District) protects public health and the environment by leading effective wastewater and stormwater management. As the largest wastewater treatment provider in the State of Ohio, the Sewer District spans 380 square miles, serves 62 communities and one million residents, treats 90 billion gallons of wastewater a year, and manages more than 400 miles of streams.
In addition to its award-winning treatment plant and laboratory performance, the Sewer District's Project Clean Lake construction program will reduce annual Lake Erie pollution by 4 billion gallons by 2035, while its Regional Stormwater Management Program addresses widespread inter-community problems like flooding, pollution, and erosion.
