The existing structure is a metal building system constructedaround 1990 and is in need of new roofing, siding, and some structural repairs. The project includesdemolition of the existing steel deck roof and all purlins. All new purlins are to be furnished withintegrated angle bridging to support the installation of a standing seam roof. The area of the roof isapproximately 8,000 square feet. All existing wall panels are to be demolished to allow access for thereinforcement or replacement of several structural members. Once the compromised structural wallmembers have been reinforced or replaced in-kind, new metal and composite wall panels are to beinstalled. The walls have an approximate coverage of 7,500 square feet. In addition, accessories to bereplaced include louvers, personnel doors, jambs, gutters, and other building components suitable forreplacement. The project also includes the cleaning and painting of the existing steel main framestructure. Bids will be received until 2:00 pm, EST on November 21, 2025, at the office of thePurchasing Department at 2nd Floor office, Westerly Town Hall, 45 Broad St., Westerly, RI 02891, atwhich time the bids will be opened and publicly read aloud in the Town Council Chambers.Bids must be enclosed in sealed envelopes and labeled as required in Part 6.2 A. of the Instructions toBidders. All Bids must be submitted on the form in the Contract Documents and clearly marked:Bid Submission: 26-32 RFQ Transfer Station RepairsProspective Bidders are asked to attend a non-mandatory Pre-Bid Conference at10:00 am on November 7, 2025to be held at the Westerly Transfer Station, 39 Larry Hirsch Lane, Westerly, RI 02891.Individuals requesting interpreter services for the hearing impaired or require handicap accessible facilitiesshould call the Town at (401) 348-2562 a minimum of seventy-two (72) hours in advance of the Pre-BidConference.Any other site visits will be by appointment only. Prospective bidders are encouraged to conduct a site visitprior to bid submittal. Access will be provided during regular business hours (8:00am to 3:00pm) the weekof November 10, 2025. Contact Mike Serra, Transfer Station Manager, 401-741-4032; ormserra@westerlyri.gov to arrange a date and time for inspection of the building.Contract documents will be uploaded/advertised online at the following three websites (BidNet Direct andState of Rhode Island) and will be available on the Town website.Bid Security in the form identified within the Instruction to Bidders, and in the amount of five (5) percent ofthe total Bid amount, must accompany each bid.The successful Bidder must furnish a Performance and a Labor and Material Payment Bond, in the specificformats as attached herein, both for the full value of the Bid Price, along with all required insurancecertificates, within ten (10) calendar days after the award date in order to execute an Agreement.
