Description: The bid is to be an annual per acre amount for approximately 115 acres of crop land located in the NE ¼ Section 8-T110N-R49W Aurora Township, Brookings County as shown on the attached map.  The parcel shall be used only for cropland purposes, Livestock will not be allowed. NOTE: Starting Year 2 of the contract (January 1, 2027), the per acre price shall increase by 2% each year through the term of the contract. The Farmland on the North end of the Brookings Regional Landfill property will be rented for a period of five (5) years, effective January 1, 2026 through December 31, 2030, to the highest responsive and responsible bidder. NOTICE TO BIDDERS

Farmland Lease, Brookings Regional Landfill

Sealed original bids will be received by the City Council of Brookings, South Dakota, at

the office of the City Clerk at the Brookings City & County Government Center, 520 3rd

Street, Suite 230, Brookings, South Dakota, until 1:30 P.M. CST, November 25, 2025,

for the Farmland Lease at the Brookings Regional Landfill. All bids will then be

publicly opened and read.

The Farmland on the North end of the Brookings Regional Landfill property will be

rented for a period of five (5) years, effective January 1, 2026 through December 31,

2030, to the highest responsive and responsible bidder.

The bid is to be an annual per acre amount for approximately 115 acres of crop land

NOTE: Starting Year 2 of the contract (January 1, 2027), the per acre price shall

The successful bidder will be responsible for primary noxious weed control. Satisfactory

weed control shall be defined as not letting weeds reach the blooming stage, either

through the use of chemicals or mowing. The annual rent shall be as follows: Rent

payment is due in full April 1st of each year. In the event leased area is removed for

landfill or other use, those acres will be deducted from the amount owed. The Lessee

shall not assign or sublet this Lease without the prior written consent of the Lessor.
