SummaryPurpose: It is the intent of the following specifications to describe cement treated base and cement stabilized backfill needed by Collin County. All material must meet the standards set forth in Item #276, Cement Treatment (plant mixed), Standard Specifications for Construction and Maintenance of Highways, Streets and Bridges, 2024 Edition, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
BackgroundCollin County Public Works Department has a mission to- Provide the citizens of Collin County the safest driving conditions possible through proficient construction and maintenance of all county roads and bridges.
- Maintain good public relations by providing information in a helpful and informative manner.
- Uphold the policies approved by the Commissioners Court.
- Continuously strive for construction and maintenance improvements through use of new methods and materials.
Collin County government uses this material to pave and maintain over 600 miles of asphalt roads, converting former dirt roads into durable surfaces. The County adheres to TxDOT standards, utilizing crushed stone or gravel coated with asphalt to create skid-resistant, protective layers that seal road bases from water damage.
