MID-WILSHIRE MEDICAL OFFICE BUILDING SEISMIC AND PROGRAM IMPROVEMENTSUniversity of California, Los AngelesProject No. 908736.01ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDSSealed bids for a lump sum subcontract are invited from Landscaping subcontractors (hereinafter“Subcontractors”) for the following work:UCLA MID-WILSHIRE MEDICAL OFFICE BUILDING SEISMIC AND PROGRAM IMPROVEMENTSProject Number 908736.01Bid Package 32C – LandscapingDESCRIPTION OF WORK:General Description: The 5 story Medical Office Building (MOB) is located at 5901 WestOlympic Boulevard, approximately 6 miles east of the UCLA Campus and is approximately95,607 GSF. The proposed project would include seismic improvements on all floor levels andinterior tenant improvements of approximately 34,000 GSF of space on floors 1-3. The MOB hasa current Seismic Performance Rating of V. Upon completion of the work, the MOB wouldachieve a Seismic Performance Rating of IV or better and bring the facility into compliance withthe UC Seismic Safety Policy.The proposed seismic work will include the installation of approximately 34 seismic dampersplaced at specified locations on the inside perimeter of the building's exterior walls. The damperswill be installed diagonally and attached at the bottom and top of the existing steel column baysrequiring incidental fireproofing at beam and column modifications. Steel reinforcing plates will beadded to existing steel beams and columns to support the installation of seismic damperbrackets. Additional seismic reinforcing is required at the existing rooftop mechanical penthouseand at the building foundation at locations along the 1st floor seismic dampers.In addition to the seismic work, work would also include partial restoration of interior buildingfinishes impacted by the installation of the seismic braces. Limited MEP investigation and safe-offwork is anticipated. Site and building accessibility improvements would include path of travelupgrades along the city sidewalk and building entrance, installation of new ADA handrails andguardrails at existing interior stairs. New accessible signage, restrooms and a drinking fountainare also anticipated.The University has bid and awarded a CM at Risk Contract to Swinerton Builders (hereafter"CM/Contractor"). CM/Contractor is responsible for bidding and awarding all subsequentsubcontractor packages, including this package. The successful Subcontractor Bidder shall sign aSubcontract Agreement directly with CM/Contractor and shall be bound by all the terms of thecontract between University and CM/Contractor. Refer to Exhibit G – Prime Contract whichcontains the contract between University and CM/Contractor, attached to the subcontract biddingdocuments and incorporated by this reference.Bid Package 32C – Landscaping (this contract): This Bid Package consists of site prep andinstallation of new irrigation and landscaping at the exterior of the facility.
