Project DescriptionKent State University is soliciting Statements of Qualifications from qualified architectural firms to provide professionaldesign and planning services for a phased renovation and space optimization project at the Kent State East Liverpoolcampus. Selection will also be the basis for a future contract to provide full A/E services for the phased construction.Purinton Hall, originally constructed in 1915 and acquired by the University in 1968, currently houses classrooms andscience laboratories supporting a range of academic programs. In 2024, the facility underwent infrastructure upgrades toaccommodate the relocation of advanced nursing and occupational therapy laboratories from the Mary Patterson Building,addressing increasing demand for healthcare education across the state of Ohio.As part of its ongoing strategic planning, the University is aligning campus facilities with current and projected enrollmenttrends. This project represents a phased initiative supported by capital funding.The selected firm will provide comprehensive planning services for the consolidation and relocation of nursing laboratoryand simulation lab functions and related academic spaces, encompassing approximately 10,000 gross square feet. Scopeof services is expected to include programming, space planning, phasing and feasibility analysis, and designdocumentation to support future capital-funded construction project(s).Firms should demonstrate experience with higher education facilities, healthcare or clinical learning environmentsincluding nursing simulation labs, physical and occupational therapy laboratories, and phased project delivery.B. Scope of ServicesThe Program of Requirements for this phase of work has not been developed, and work will commence with the POR.The selected A/E, as a portion of its required Scope of Services and prior to submitting its proposals, will discuss andclarify with the Owner and/or the Contracting Authority, the cost breakdown of the A/E Agreement detailed costcomponents to address the Owner’s project requirements. Participate in the Encouraging Diversity, Growth & Equity(EDGE) Program as required by statute and the Agreement.As required by the Agreement, and as properly authorized, provide the following categories of services: ProgramVerification, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Document Preparation, Bid and Award Support,Conformed Documents, Construction Administration, Post-Construction, and Additional Services of all types.Refer to the Ohio Facilities Construction Manual for additional information about the type and extent of services requiredfor each. The specificscope of services must state particular building types, functional design or specialized professional services required toevaluate the level of experience of each applicant firm (e.g. parking garage, kitchen design, correctional facility, medicalfacility). The scope of services should also define the types of basic and additional professional design and administrationservices necessary for the project (e.g. LEED credentials and experience, previous experience with local jurisdiction orsimilar sites, previous experience working with the State of Ohio, Building Information Modeling (“BIM”) experience andtraining, specific BIM and Owner-defined requirements, level of development to be achieved within BIM models, BIMdeliverables, and Owner’s intended use of BIM models after construction). This information will be used by each applicantto populate the Relevant Project Experience Matrix in Section F of Form F110-330.For purposes of completing the Relevant Project Experience Matrix in Section F of the Statement of Qualifications (FormF110-330), below is a list of relevant scope of work requirements for this RFQ:1.
