Project ObjectiveMinneapolis Public Schools (MPS) is seeking proposals from organizations and individuals wishingto provide Door Installation.Minneapolis Public Schools or Special School District Number 1 (SSD #1) is a school district that iscoterminous with the City of Minneapolis, Minnesota. With authority granted by the statelegislature, the school board makes policy, selects the superintendent, and oversees the district'sbudget, curriculum, personnel, and facilities. Students speak ninety different languages at homeand most school communications are printed in English, Hmong, Spanish, and Somali. The Districtcovers over 70 school programs at 65 sites, with approximately 29,900 students and 3,200teaching staff.The District intends to select one organization to provide the necessary Door Installationservices. To facilitate the submission and evaluation of proposals, this proposal providesadditional background information regarding MPS that will be relevant to the proposal.RFP Primary Objective 1: Gain a thorough understanding of the product capability in order toselect, implement and operate door systems that will meet the needs of the district for the next2 years or more.• The vendor must be able to supply all necessary goods required to operate,maintain, and sustain the full functionality of district doors. This includes, but is notlimited to:• Complete door systems (interior, exterior, specialty, security-rated, ADA-compliant,etc.)• Door hardware and accessories, such as hinges, closers, locks, panic bars,thresholds, seals, and electronic access components• Replacement parts to support ongoing maintenance and long-term lifecycle needs• Product documentation, including specifications, warranties, installation guides,and maintenance requirements• Availability guarantees, such as lead times, stocking commitments, and supply chaincontinuity plansRFP Primary Objective 2: Gain a thorough understanding of the door systems total proposedcosts. Including but not limited to: Services for Site Visits, Measurement, Installation, andSupport• The vendor must be able to deliver comprehensive services related to theassessment, installation, and ongoing support of doors and associated hardware.Required services include:• On-site evaluations to assess existing conditions, verify measurements, and identifyinstallation requirements• Professional installation of doors, frames, hardware, and accessories in accordancewith industry standards, building codes, and district specifications• Integration services for electronic access systems, security components, andautomated door solutions• Project management, including scheduling, coordination with district staff, andcommunication of progress or issues4Minneapolis Public Schools1250 W. The selected vendormust:• Demonstrate a clear product strategy, including future development plans,technology upgrades, and lifecycle management• Provide evidence of past product enhancements, updates, or innovations that showcommitment to continuous improvement• Offer scalable solutions that can adapt to evolving district needs, includingexpansion, modernization, or integration with new technologies• Ensure long-term support, including availability of parts, service continuity, andcompatibility with future system upgrades• Commit to collaborative partnership, including regular communication,performance reviews, and responsiveness to district feedback• The goal is to secure a vendor capable of supporting both current operational needsand future strategic initiatives throughout the life of the product.B.
