INVITATION TO BIDReplacement of Norfolk Southern Railroad Bridge over Grand RiverAll Contractors,Norfolk Southern is requesting proposals for the subject project per the documentationGrand River S 189.19. Please complete the survey confirming your participation HEREfor this project by April 13, 2026 if you plan on participating. Do not respond if you are notattending.The mandatory pre-bid meeting and job showing for this project will be held at 9:00 AM CSTon April 14, 2026 at The Knight & Rucker Banquet Hall located at 119 E Broadway St.Brunswick, MO 65236 followed by a site visit. Details regarding access to the bridge site willbe discussed at the pre-bid meeting. Any questions can be directed to Chief EngineerBridges & Structures, Ruth Brown, at 404-205-2615.The contractor’s scope of work is to include:• Replacement of the 536-foot section of the bridge over Grand River within the samealignment as the existing bridge. An access road will be constructed from the nearbyhighway entrance to the existing construction lay down areas at the east end of theexisting bridge. Foundation construction will involve two new piers, one newabutment and two existing piers to be modified. Piers will utilize drilled shafts for thedeep foundation, and the abutment will utilize driven piles. Superstructureconstruction for two through plate girder spans of 99.5 feet in length each, onethrough truss span of 302 feet in length, and one deck plate girder of 31 feet inlength (536 feet in total). These spans will utilize a steel ballast pan withwaterproofing.• Contractor must meet and maintain all permitting requirements associated with theproject.Pre-bid meeting attendees should bring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) includingsafety hardhat, eye and hearing protection, reflectorized vest, flashlight, and steel-toedfootwear and plan on inspecting the worksite. Attendees without PPE available for their usemay not be allowed onto the worksite location. Pre-bid meeting attendees are restricted tothe meeting location listed above and are not permitted to enter other areas of Railway’sproperty without proper escort by an Officer of Norfolk Southern.Bids are due via email to Leah.Fletcher@nscorp.com by Noon EST on May 28, 2026. Contractors must be enrolled inERailsafe, have completed Roadway Worker Protection training, have experience withon-track equipment, and meet the requirements under 49 CFR 214, 49 CFR 243 or thedrug testing requirements of 49 CFR 219.
