Request for ProposalCarteret County GovernmentDepartment of Social ServicesSecond Story Ceiling ModificationsIssued: February 13, 2026Submission Deadline: February 27, 2026 by 10:00 AM, EST.Carteret County Government Department of Social Services Second Story Ceiling Modifications RFP1CARTERET COUNTY PUBLIC BUILDINGSPhone: 252-648-7877REQUEST FOR PROPOSALDate:To:Project Name:02/13/2026Interested ContractorsDepartment of Social Services Second Story Ceiling ModificationsScope of Work:Carteret County Government is seeking competitive proposals to install vinyl ceiling tiles, LED lighting, ABSplastic supply vents, returns, exhaust covers, and grate covers for the second story of the Department of SocialServices located at 210 Craven Street, Beaufort, NC 28516.The Contractor shall abide by the details and shall refer to the diagrams and associated pictures in addition to thescope of work specified within the documents provided below.General Scope of Work• Work shall consist of removing and replacing of all existing ceiling tiles, lighting fixtures, HVAC supplyvents, returns, grates and exhaust covers.• Replacement of damaged or missing sections of the existing grid system, including those that are bent,rusted or have holes.• Adjustment and/or addition of the grid system to accommodate new materials or tiles.• Installation of new grid support ties as needed.• Modify new tiles to accommodate existing ceiling accessories.• All new materials listed shall be furnished and installed by the Contractor.Ceiling Tiles• The Contractor shall install DuraClean Smooth White 2’ x 2’ vinyl ceiling tiles (or equivalent) that aremildew and mold resistant.• Tiles shall be installed throughout all areas of the second story where existing ceiling tiles are currently inplace.HVAC Fixtures• Install approximately twenty-six (26) new ABS plastic drop in HVAC supply vents that are white andfeature a three (3) cone face with an eight-inch (8”) boot. If an existing diffuser is equipped with a damper,the new diffuser shall have a new damper installed. Trunk lines shall be reconnected.• Install approximately sixteen (16) 2’ x 2’ ABS plastic, white, quarter-inch (1/4”) perforated tiles with aone-inch (1”) solid border for any existing returns, exhaust or grates. Any modifications to accept thesetiles shall be the Contractors responsibility.Carteret County Government Department of Social Services Second Story Ceiling Modifications RFP2Lighting Fixtures• Remove the exiting lighting fixtures in the hallway and install approximately ten (10) four-foot by two-foot(4’ X 2’) drop in flat panel LED fixtures.• Remove the existing lighting fixtures in all the offices identified, modify the grid system to accommodateapproximately fifty-five (55) two-foot by two-foot (2’ X 2’) drop in flat panel LED fixtures.• All new lighting fixtures shall be “Lithonia Lighting – Adjustable-Lumen Switchable White LED PanelLight” (or equivalent).• Ensure all new lighting fixtures are set to the same color temperature, with a preferred setting of 3000k.• All new lighting fixtures shall remain in the same locations as the existing fixtures.Ceiling Accessories• Existing ceiling accessories attached to the grid shall remain in place.• The Contractor shall cut out new ceiling tiles to fit any fixtures that are currently fixed to a ceiling tile. Nogaps shall be present.• All ceiling fire and safety fixtures being removed and reinstalled may require a specific schedule.Scheduling for this task shall be coordinated with the County POC.• All existing ceiling fixtures shall remain in their current locations.Schedule• Work shall be performed in phases outside normal business hours as dictated by the County POC.• Each phase of work shall be fully completed before the start of business.• At no time shall there be missing or open sections of the ceiling during normal business hours.• Interested Contractors shall contact the County POC below to schedule a site visit.Cleaning and Miscellaneous• The Contractor shall provide all necessary labor, materials, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), equipment, and acompetent supervisor to oversee and direct work as outlined in these documents.• Protect all surfaces below the ceiling and all ceiling accessories from damage, dust and debris whileworking. All associated debris shall be cleaned and hauled off at the end of each working day. All cleaningequipment shall be provided by the Contractor.• Should the new tiles experience uplift from opening and closing doors, identify the tiles and apply clips ortape to better secure the tiles to the grid system.• Replace any grid “T” bars to match the existing style, size and color.• All new material shall be installed per the manufacture’s recommendations and instructions.• All newly installed materials shall be fire-rated, if required.• Any and all measurements and material quantities shall be verified by the Contractor.• The Contractor shall submit any and all warranty documentation on behalf of the County.• Any damages caused by the Contractor shall be the Contractor’s responsibility to fix or replace at theCounty’s discretion.• All new materials are subject to approval by Carteret County. If the Contractor proposes using materialsequivalent to those specified above, detailed submittals shall be included with the Contractor’s proposalfor review and approval.• The Contractor shall obtain the required permits, if required, give all notices to the County POC (includinga copy of any permits), and comply with all laws, ordinances, codes, rules and regulations bearing on theconduct of the work. Permits shall be posted onsite at the project location.
