Notice of Intent to Award a Contract

Notice is hereby given that Unitech Construction Management Ltd. on behalf of the City of Abbotsford (the “City”) is contemplating making a direct award of a contract to Richmond Elevator Maintenance Inc. (the “Service Provider”) for the following:

· Elevator Upgrades at the existing Abbotsford Police Headquarters

The contract will be executed in the second half of 2025 and the contract amount is expected to be a maximum of $200,000.00 CAD plus applicable taxes.

Background
The City is about to undertake a renovation of the existing Abbotsford Police Department headquarters including a refurbishment of the original elevator. The existing elevator is currently being serviced by Richmond Elevator and is willing to provide a nonproprietary controls system that allows the City flexibility with future maintenance contracts.

The current elevator is at end of life and requires an in-depth upgrade to ensure its functionality throughout the life of the current APD headquarters.

Scope of Services or Specifications:
· Refurbishment of the existing 2 stop elevator located at 2838 Justice Way. This work will include Elevator controller, cab interior, and hydraulic jack modernization as well as a new battery lowering unit.

Rationale for Contemplating a Direct Award:
· Maintain consistency of elevator systems within the building which have been installed by Richmond Elevator.

Contract Value:
The total value of the contract is expected not to exceed $200,000.00 CAD plus applicable taxes.

Any Respondents that still wish to object to this decision they should email their objection to the attention of Jarret Scott, Project Manager of the APD Expansion project at jscott@unitechcm.ca by December 9, 2024 no later than 2:00 p.m. local time.

Submissions by other methods will not be accepted.

Respondents objecting must outline specific reasons for their objection in their email as well as demonstrate their ability to perform the contemplated work and/or services and show availability and resources. The Respondent’s ability to provide goods and services of the same or better quality and price and within the required period will be the key criteria used in the consideration of any Respondent’s objections.
