SummaryCity of Bradenton (“City”), will receive bids on the date indicated in OpenGov for the purpose of selecting a Contractor to provide construction services for the rehabilitation of Sedimentation Basin and Flocculator No. 2, located at the Bradenton Water Treatment Plant. (5600 Natalie Way E, Bradenton, FL 34203). as specified in the solicitation documents.
BackgroundThe City of Bradenton Water Treatment Plant (WTP) employs a conventional surface water treatment process that is dependent upon coagulation, flocculation and sedimentation. The original design intent and subsequent construction of the WTP (1989) incorporated the use of alum as a coagulant. In 1993, rules were established that required the City implement the use of ferric sulfate as a coagulant. Following chemical addition, the working pH of the process stream varies between four (4) and five (5). Over the course of time, the flocculation cells, sedimentation basins, and appurtenances have all experienced deterioration. In in effort to extend the life of the WTP, the City will be rehabilitating the sedimentation and flocculation system, starting with Unit No. 2.
