DEFINITIONSWhenever the following terms, or pronouns used in place of them, are used in theseContract Documents, they shall have the meanings given below:Addendum – A modification, revision or clarification of the Plans or other ContractDocuments, issued by the Engineer and distributed to prospective bidders before theopening of bids.Board of County Commissioners – Governing body of Lake County, hereinafterreferred to as the Board.Calendar Day – Every day shown on the calendar, ending and beginning at Midnight.Change Order – A written order issued by the Engineer in accordance with Boardpolicy, and accepted by the Contractor directing certain changes, additions or reductionsin the work or in the materials used.Consultant – The Professional Engineer or Engineering Firm registered in the State ofFlorida who performs Professional Engineering Services for the County, other thanCounty personnel. The Consultant may be the Engineer of Record or may provideservices through and be subcontracted to the Engineer of Record.Contingency – A pay item included for usage as directed by the Engineer and for usageunder conditions or circumstances unforeseen at the time of contract.Contractor – The General Contractor, the Individual, Partnership or Corporationbidding or agreeing to do the work for the Owner as Prime Contractor.Contract Documents – All documents referred to in Division X in addition to all dulyexecuted and issued addenda, legal advertisements and change orders.County/Owner – Lake, County, Florida, a political subdivision of the State of Florida.Engineer – The County Senior Director of Public Works or his duly authorizedrepresentative, acting on behalf of the County.Engineer of Record – The Professional Engineer or Engineering Firm contracted withby the County and registered in the State of Florida who develops criteria and conceptfor the project, performs the analysis and is responsible for the preparation of theContract Plans and Specifications. The Engineer of Record may be County in-house staffor a Consultant retained by the County.FDOT – The Florida Department of Transportation.A-1
