The relationships established and private funds raised through thedivision directly impact the university’s strategic plan by supporting academic excellence, communityengagement, and research advancement. Every dollar invested in fundraising at Wayne State producesa rate of return of $7.47 (as of fall 2025).Wayne State University has more than 308,000 alumni, and approximately 75% live in Michigan.Comprehensive Campaign HistoryThe University’s inaugural comprehensive fundraising campaign, Wayne First, raised $484.4 million ingifts and pledges. The seven-year campaign publicly launched on May 24, 2005, and concluded onDecember 31, 2008.The total raised represents more than 400,000 gifts from Wayne State alumni and friends, as well asdonations from corporations and foundations. More than 44,000 donors made their first gift to theuniversity during the campaign.The University’s second comprehensive fundraising campaign, Pivotal Moments, began its silent phaseon January 1, 2009, publicly launched on October 9, 2014, and concluded on September 30, 2018.More than 84,000 alumni and friends, including corporations and foundations, combined to achieve a$776.5 million milestone, exceeding the university’s goal of $750 million. Campaign conclusioncoincided with the University’s sesquicentennial in fall 2018.The goal of the current comprehensive campaign (the University’s third) is to raise $1 billion inphilanthropic support for the University, and to substantially grow the University’s endowment in keepingwith current and future strategic plan objectives.The official campaign start date for the purpose of tracking fundraising progress to goal is October 1,2021. Procurement & Strategic Sourcing is soliciting proposals from qualified professional organizations,hereafter referred to as VENDOR(s), who specialize in providing Comprehensive Campaign Counselof superior quality, at competitive pricing, as described in the Statement of Work section of the Requestfor Proposal (RFP). Project must commence on or before February 2, 2026, and be completedby February 2029.The contract(s) will be for a three-year period ending on February 1, 2029. Thereafter, theUNIVERSITY may, at its option, extend the contract on a year-to-year basis for up to two one-yearperiods, through February 1, 2031. VENDORS must state maximum price increases (if any) for theoptional two one-year periods on Cost Schedule C.This RFP outlines basic requirements as specified in the Scope of Work section of the RFP (Section III).Proposals submitted are to be in accordance with the outline and specifications contained in and are toremain in effect a minimum of 120 days from the date of submission and may be subject to furtherextensions as negotiated.C. The UNIVERSITY reserves the right to accept, reject, modify, and/or negotiate any and allproposals received in conjunction with the RFP. It reserves the right to waive any defect orinformality in the Proposals on the basis of what it considers to be in its best interests. Any proposalmay be rejected, which the UNIVERSITY determines to be incomplete, conditional, obscure, or hasirregularities of any kind. The UNIVERSITY reserves the right to award to the firm, or firms, which in itssole judgment, will best serve its long-term interest.This RFP in no manner obligates the UNIVERSITY to the eventual purchase of any products or servicesdescribed, implied, or which may be proposed, until confirmed by written agreement, and may beterminated by the UNIVERSITY without penalty or obligation at any time prior to the signing of anAgreement or Purchase Order.D. Expenses for developing and presenting proposals shall be the entire responsibility of the VENDOR andshall not be chargeable to the UNIVERSITY. All supporting documentation and manuals submitted withthis proposal will become the property of the UNIVERSITY.
