Description:

Ottawa County intends to apply to the Ohio Department of Development for funding under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) State Program, a federally-funded program administered by the state.  Ottawa County is eligible to receive $174,000 for Fiscal Year 2026 CDBG Allocation funding providing the county meets applicable program requirements.  On March 3, 2026, Ottawa County conducted its first public hearing to inform citizens about the CDBG program, how it may be used, what activities are eligible, and other important program requirements.

A second public hearing will be held Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11:30 A.M. in the Assembly Room of the Ottawa County Courthouse, 315 Madison Street, Port Clinton, Ohio to give citizens an adequate opportunity to review and comment on the county’s proposed CDBG application, including the proposed activities summarized above, before the county submits its application to the Ohio Department of Development.  The CDBG grant period is from September 1, 2026 through October 31, 2028.

Ottawa County intends to apply to the Ohio Department of Development for funding under the
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) State Program, a federally-funded program administered
by the state. Ottawa County is eligible to receive $174,000 for Fiscal Year 2026 CDBG Allocation funding
providing the county meets applicable program requirements. On March 3, 2026, Ottawa County
conducted its first public hearing to inform citizens about the CDBG program, how it may be used, what
activities are eligible, and other important program requirements.
Based on both citizen input and local officials’ assessments of the county’s needs, Ottawa County is
proposing to undertake the following CDBG activities for Fiscal Year 2026:
1. Allocation Application – $147,500
a. Public Services – Ottawa County – $49,500 – Benefit to Limited Clientele.
b. Purchase of a Wheelchair accessible passenger van – Veterans Services- $90,000 requested
– Benefit to Limited Clientele.
c. Fair Housing – $1,000
d. Administration – $7,000
A second public hearing will be held Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11:30 A.M. in the Assembly Room of the
Ottawa County Courthouse, 315 Madison Street, Port Clinton, Ohio to give citizens an adequate
opportunity to review and comment on the county’s proposed CDBG application, including the proposed
activities summarized above, before the county submits its application to the Ohio Department of
Development. The CDBG grant period is from September 1, 2026 through October 31, 2028.
Citizens are encouraged to attend this meeting on May 21, 2026 to express their views and comments
on the county’s proposed CDBG application.
