1. Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) Request for Quotes

May 12, 2026 - The City of Ojai is seeking quotes from qualified suppliers/manufacturers for a project located at two existing crosswalk locations on Ojai Avenue in the City of Ojai. The scope of work includes the manufacturer and delivery of four solar powered rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) assemblies for the two crosswalk locations (one assembly per side of each crosswalk).  Additionally, the assemblies will require the necessary pedestrian push button assemblies (either integral with the pole or on a separate pole as shown on the Drawings.   This solicitation is for the pre-purchased units.  The City intends to provide the assemblies to a contractor for installation that is already working for the City on a related project.  Quotes shall include all necessary signs, brackets, hardware, poles, beacons, solar panels, batteries, etc., to complete the assembly.

ADDENDUM NO. 1

OJAI AVE RECTANGULAR RAPID FLASHING BEACON (RRFB)

THIS ADDENDUM HAS BEEN PREPARED TO CLARIFY, MODIFY, DELETE, OR ADD TO THE

DRAWINGS AND/OR SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE ABOVE REFERENCED PROJECT. THE

ITEMS LISTED HEREIN SUPERSEDE DESCRIPTIONS PRIOR TO THE DATE LISTED ABOVE.

ALL CONDITIONS NOT SPECIFICALLY REFERENCED HERE SHALL REMAIN THE SAME.

The bid date and time remains the same: Bids are due to the City on May 28, 2026, at

3:00PM.

Attached please find one (1) copy of Addendum No. 1. Upon receipt, sign one copy of this

addendum and return it with your bid.

This addendum includes the following:

REVISIONS & CLARIFICATIONS TO THE

PROJECT PROPOSAL, CONTRACT AND SPECIAL PROVISIONS

AD1-1. QUESTION: On the two standalone push button assemblies. How do you intend

to power those push buttons?

1. Wire harness and underground conduit to nearest solar powered controller

2. Wireless battery powered bollard pushbutton

RESPONSE: Standalone push buttons assemblies will have wire harness

and underground conduit to the nearest solar powered controller.

AD1-2.

QUESTION: The pedestrian pole notes Pelco part PB-5100-7-PNC in the

pedestrian push button detail. This part refers to a pole with one threaded end. If

a cap and base also need to be included, Pelco offered the assembly as detailed

in the attached drawing. Is part PB-5237-SCH40-05-PNC Assembly an approved

equal?

RESPONSE: The provided Pelco assembly (Attachment 1) is not an approved

equal. See Attachment 5 for pre-approved Pelco pole and base.

AD1-3.

QUESTION: The spec calls out a bulldog standard pushbutton with the 9x12

plaque. Would you allow the Pedsafety 4ever Moab standard pushbutton with the

9x12 to be an approved equal?

RESPONSE: The provided Pedsafety 4ever MOAB standard pushbutton

(Attachment 2) is tentatively accepted as an approved equal under the

following conditions: 1) MOAB must be compatible with all other RRFB

system components (both hardware and electrical components). 2) The

audible tone can be deactivated by the City at their discretion.

AD1-4.

QUESTION: The RRFB crosswalk image reflects a separate solar panel and

battery box for each crosswalk. With our Trafficalm supplier, we can provide a self-

contained solar panel and battery box that is one system mounted at the top.

Would we be able to submit on this product spec?

RESPONSE: The provided Trafficalm (Attachment 3) and the proposed

concept of having a self-contained solar panel and battery box as one

system mounted on top shall be determined to be an equal to the specified

product during the submittal phase.

AD1-5. QUESTION: The poles are 14’. What are the specifications and manufacturer

needed for the poles?

RESPONSE: See the pre-approved example of the 14-foot pole are provided

in Attachment 4.

The 4 EVR MOAB is the next generation of solid-state pushbuttons. A new flush mount form

factor with higher volume, lower power consumption, improved transient protection, and self-

latching capability. Virtually vandal proof, the MOAB utilizes a Piezo switch element that

cannot be stuck in a constant call. An audible tone is momentarily activated with the pedestrian

call. The LED can be latching or momentarily activated with a pedestrian call. The actuator is

pressure sensitive and mechanically isolated from the piezo switch so it cannot be damaged.
