The northern edge of the sidewalk bears on an existingseawall and has remained generally stable. The southern edge of the sidewalk, located approximately twelve feet(12') south of the seawall, has subsided from its original constructed elevations by amounts ranging fromapproximately one-half inch (½") to a maximum of approximately sixteen and one-half inches (16.5") in localizedareas. The original design and construction of the sidewalk and associated concrete wall were configured such that thesouthern edge (front) of the sidewalk was sloped to drain northward toward the seawall at an approximate slope ofone percent (1%). Differential settlement has altered this intended slope and drainage pattern. The scope of work includes restoring the sidewalk, concrete wall, and wall footing to the elevations and slopes shownon the Contract Drawings by means of installing remedial helical piles to the minimum depths indicated herein andon the Drawings. The installed piles shall serve as resistance elements for permanent jacking assemblies used to liftthe wall footing, wall, and sidewalk back into their intended positions.Jacking assemblies shall be permanent components of the completed work and shall remain in place after liftingoperations are complete. These assemblies shall be designed and constructed to withstand long-term exposure tothe environmental conditions present at the site, including moisture and coastal conditions, and shall not be removedafter installation.Due to settlement and cracking of the structure, subsurface voids have developed beneath the sidewalk slab andbehind the concrete wall. These areas were originally backfilled with sand, which has since eroded as a result ofwashout occurring beneath the structure and wall footing. As part of the remedial work, core holes shall be drilledthrough the sidewalk slab at locations indicated on the Drawings or as directed in the field. Sand shall be pumpedthrough the core holes to initially fill existing voids beneath the slab.Following initial sand placement, remaining voids beneath the sidewalk slab shall be filled by pumping flowable groutslurry to the underside of the slab. Flowable grout slurry shall also be pumped beneath the wall footing, as required,to stabilize and support the footing and wall after elevations have been restored.Upon completion of grouting operations, all core holes and surface disturbances in the sidewalk shall be properlyfilled, patched, and finished to match adjacent concrete surfaces.1.1 SUBMITTALSA. Information on the remedial piling system.B. Information of the jacking system, underpinning bracket, etc. to be utilized.C. Statement of qualifications and years of experience undertaking the specific type of work proposed.SUMMARY OF WORK00 10 00 - 1Pedestrian Pathway RepairHarrison County, MSJanuary 12, 20261.2 QUALIFICATIONSA. Contractor shall have specialized experience in the installation of helical piles and the proposed liftingmethodology for construction applications for a period of at least 20 years.1.3 FIELD MEASUREMENTSA. The area the work is to be performed is a sidewalk and wall portion that is +/- 200 linear feet. The sidewalksection at the top is +/-12 feet wide, with an adjacent wall and footing that is +/- 5 feet tall. All dimensionsshall be confirmed by the contractor prior to providing a price quote.1.4 WARRANTYA. Contractor shall warrant all aspects of the work, materials, and worksmanship for a period of one (1) yearafter construction is complete.PART 2 – PRODUCTS2.1 MATERIALS – HELICAL PILES. Double Helix Remedial Piles as fabricated and distributed by Cantsink SupportingInnovation, or approved equal.2.2 MATERIALS – JACKING & REMEDIAL UNDERPINNING BRACKET. This item will be provided on a performance basis, proposed by the Contractor, for the use and conditions in the field.2.3 MATERIALS – SAND. Contractor may utilize existing sand on site from the beach as fill for the cavity. Harrison CountySand Beach will deposit beach sand at locations specified by the Contractor.2.4 MATERIALS – FLOWABLE FILL GROUT SLURRY. Flowable concrete shall meet the requirements of Section 631 of theMississippi Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, latest edition, as published by the MSDepartment of Transportation, and shall have a minimum 28 day compressive strength of 125 psi.SECTION 3 ‒ EXECUTION3.1 EXECUTIONA. Verify site conditions under provisions of these specifications and the plans.B. Pressure wash joint at parking lot with walkway to remove and debris. This will be performed by HarrisonCounty personnel.C. Excavate to top of exterior wall footing. This will be performed by Harrison County personnel.D. Excavate as needed to install remedial piles under the exterior wall footing.E. Install 30 remedial piles along the 200 LF of settled wall to a minimum depth of twenty-six feet (26’). Alternateconfigurations may be submitted for review.F. Install jacking and underpinning as needed to raise the structure to the elevations specified.SUMMARY OF WORK00 10 00 - 2Pedestrian Pathway RepairHarrison County, MSJanuary 12, 2026G. Core four-inch (4”) holes in the walkway slab at intervals spaced six feet (6’) center to center (installed wheredeemed most appropriate in the field).H. Install initial fill of voids underneath slab with sand by pumping through the cored holes in the walkway slab.I. Install flowable fill slurry by pumping the remained of the void under the slab and under the areas of footingwhere voids exist after jacking.J. Patch openings in the walkway slab.K. Backfill to the prior existing specified height on the exterior wall. This will be performed by Harrison Countypersonnel.SECTION 4 – METHOD OF MEASUREMENT4.1 Items in this quote will be measured by the following methods:4.2 Excavation below the exterior wall footing, furnishing and installing remedial helical piles to a minimum depth oftwenty-six feet (26'), furnishing and installing permanent jacking mechanisms, jacking and lifting the wall, footing, and sidewalk to the elevations shown on the Contract Drawings, and coring holes in the existing sidewalk shall bemeasured and paid for as a single Lump Sum (LS) item, at the price stated in the Contractor’s Quote. The Lump Sum price shall include all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, temporary works, coordination, protection of existing improvements, and incidentals necessary to complete the work as specified and shown, regardless of actual quantities, depths achieved beyond the minimum required, number of jacking points required,or number of core holes installed.4.3 Installation of remedial helical piles to depths greater than twenty-six feet (26') but less than or equal to thirty-onefeet (31') shall be measured only for the additional length installed in excess of twenty-six feet (26'). Such additionallength shall be measured and paid for as an Each (EA) item as described herein and at the price stated in the Pay ItemNo. 00 10 00 - A. The base twenty-six feet (26') of pile installation is included in Pay Item No. 00 10 00 - A and shallnot be separately measured or paid.4.4 Installation of remedial helical piles installed to depths greater than thirty-one feet (31') and less than or equal tothirty-six feet (36') shall be measured and paid only for piles whose final installed depth exceeds thirty-one feet (31').Measurement and payment shall be on an Each (EA) basis at the unit price stated in the Quote Form for Pay Item No.00 10 00 - C. Payment under this item is in lieu of, and not in addition to, payment for piles installed to depths greaterthan twenty-six feet (26') but less than or equal to thirty-one feet (31').4.5 Clean Sand will be measured by Loose Vehicle Measurement (LVM). Material will be measured after stockpiling ofmaterial by the Harrison County Sand Beach. Material will be measured again subsequent to installation in thewalkway cavity by Harrison County personnel.4.6 Flowable concrete fill will be measured by the cubic yard which will be determined by certified delivery tickets fromthe manufacturer.SUMMARY OF WORK00 10 00 - 3
