● Encourage and incentivize educator preparation programs (EPPs) to pilot, scale, and sustain the implementation of clinically intensive and practice-based approaches to preparation across all programs and pathways, improving the quality of the teacher pipeline for Pk-12 schools (EPP reallocation).
● Build mutually beneficial partnerships between LEAs and EPPs.
● Through strategic staffing, increase the number of sustainable residency stipends for teacher candidates who train in a year-long clinical, meet the immediate instructional needs of districts/schools, and commit to teaching for at least three years in Delaware (LEA reallocation).
● Encourage and incentivize teachers from diverse backgrounds and populations to become Residents, supporting the continued development of a workforce that better reflects the communities they teach.
GUIDELINES - Due to the competitive nature of the RFA funding, all applicants are advised of the following:
● Only EPP(s) who have met the criteria of a Vetted Teacher Residency can be considered for partnership,
● The following conditions will automatically disqualify submissions: Received after the deadline, exceed word counts, incomplete, failure of LEA representative to attend the required Year-Long Teacher Residency RFA Overview workshop, a lack of commitment on any ‘constraining criteria’ (see below);
● Site Coordinators and mentors as described in Regulation 1503 provide induction mentoring supports for novice teachers. A mentor teacher serving as both a mentor for a novice teacher and cooperating teacher for a teacher resident is not allowed unless an exception is approved in writing by the DDOE.
