INTRODUCTIONThe City of Bristol, Tennessee, hereinafter referred to as “City” is soliciting bids from qualified,contractors, hereinafter referred to as “bidder or supplier” to install Recycling Center Fencing,as detailed in the scope of work section.The City of Bristol, Tennessee Current Solicitations (Bids, RFP, RFQ) and Bidnet webpages shall bethe official sites for information as related to this Invitation to Bid (ITB). Firms are responsiblefor checking the these platforms for the issuance of any addendums.II. No phone call questions will be accepted. Answers to questions will be posted on the citywebsite and Bidnet Platform as an addendum to this bid no later than 5pm on December 29, 2025.Information related to this bid obtained from other sources may not be accurate and will not be consideredbinding. Contact with City personnel other than the staff person listed above regarding this bid may begrounds for elimination from the bid process.III. SCOPE OF WORK1. GENERALThe work includes furnishing all labor, equipment, tools, and materials necessary to install:- Approximately 235 linear feet (Blackley Dr) and 195 linear feet (Exide Dr.) of 8’ high chain link perimeterfencing.- One 8' × 25' cantilever chain link gate at each location with an automated operator, auto-closing feature, anddusk-to-dawn timer/locking logic.Work shall include all posts, bracing, concrete foundations, gate operator, electrical components, accessories, andincidentals needed to create a complete, fully operational system.1.2 Contractor Qualifications- Minimum 3 years experience installing commercial fencing and automated gates.- Must comply with all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA.1.3 Submittals Required2ITB 26-005City of Bristol, Tennessee- Product data sheets for all fence and gate materials.- Gate operator specifications and wiring diagrams.- Warranty information.- Project schedule.2. MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS – FENCE2.1 Height & Layout- Fence shall be 8 feet in height, measured from finished grade to top rail.2.2 Fabric (Chain Link)- Material: Galvanized steel, ASTM A392, Class 2 coating or better.- Mesh: 2-inch diamond.- Wire Gauge: 9-gauge minimum.- Selvage: Twisted and barbed on top; knuckled on bottom.2.3 Posts- Line Posts: 2.375" OD, Schedule 40, galvanized.- Terminal / Corner / End Posts: 2.875" OD, Schedule 40, galvanized.- Gate Posts: 4.0" OD minimum, Schedule 40.- All posts shall be set in concrete footings with a minimum diameter of 10” and depth of 36".2.4 Top Rail & Bracing- Top Rail: 1.66" OD, Schedule 40, galvanized.- Mid-brace or bottom tension wire as required.2.5 Hardware & Fittings- Galvanized steel, ASTM F626 compliant.- All fasteners tamper-resistant.3. CANTILEVER GATE SYSTEM3.1 Gate Dimensions & Construction- Size: 8 ft height × 25 ft opening width (clear opening).- Type: Cantilever slide gate, galvanized steel frame.- Gate Fabric: Same as fence fabric (9-ga, 2" mesh).- Gate Frame Members:- Top/Bottom Rails: 2.5" OD minimum- Uprights/Diagonal Bracing: 1.66" OD minimum3.2 Gate Operator- UL 325 compliant.- Heavy-duty commercial gate operator rated for continuous daily cycling.- Electric Motor: 120V or 240V. (As recommended by manufacturer)January 5, 20263ITB 26-005City of Bristol, TennesseeJanuary 5, 2026- Duty Cycle: High-cycle, suitable for industrial use.- Required Features: Automatic close, safety photo-eyes, manual release, loop detector compatibility.3.3 Dusk-to-Dawn Timer / Scheduling LogicSystem shall include photocell dusk-to-dawn control or a programmable timer with sunrise/sunset schedule.3.4 Electrical Service and Utility Coordination-Contractor shall be fully responsible for providing electrical power to the gate operator, including all coordinationwith the local electric utility, scheduling work, submitting applications, and paying any required service fees.-Contractor shall supply all conduit, wiring, trenching, and electrical components needed for a complete andpowered system. All work shall comply with NEC, local codes, and utility standards.-Conduit shall be Rigid Metal Conduit (RMC) or Schedule 80 PVC, buried a minimum of 24 inches, sized peroperator requirements.-Power shall be run on a dedicated circuit, installed and connected by a licensed electrician.-Contractor is responsible for final energizing, testing, and commissioning of the gate operator and all accessories,and shall coordinate inspections with the City.-No time extensions will be granted for delays related to electrical service coordination or utility scheduling.4. INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS4.1 Site Preparation- Contractor shall verify utility locations and remove debris.4.2 Fence Installation- Posts plumb and evenly spaced (10 ft max spacing).- Concrete fully cured before fabric tensioning.- Properly tensioned and tied fabric.4.3 Gate Installation- Gate must operate smoothly manually before operator installation.- Contractor must train City personnel on operation.5. WARRANTY- Minimum 1-year workmanship warranty.- Minimum 5-year manufacturer warranty on gate operator.- Fabric and posts: Manufacturer’s standard warranty.4
