This Section defines the required scope of work for furnishing, installing, starting up, testing,and placing into service a complete condensing hot-water boiler package for the Adrian WWTPBoiler Replacement project.B. The Contractor shall furnish and install exactly two Weil-McLain SVF-1500 condensing hot-water boilers and all appurtenances, accessories, controls, venting components, combustion aircomponents, condensate handling components, piping trim, electrical/control interface compo-nents, manufacturer-required accessories, start-up services, commissioning support, training, andcloseout documentation required for a complete and operable installation.C. The boiler package specified herein is a mandatory scope requirement for bidding. Bids shall bebased on the exact boiler manufacturer, model, configuration, controls platform, venting basis,and associated appurtenances specified in this Section.D. Substitutions, alternates, voluntary deducts, value-engineered substitutions, or equivalent boilerpackages shall not be included in the Contractor’s bid unless specifically approved by writtenaddendum prior to bid opening.E. The Contractor shall include all labor, materials, equipment, rigging, coordination, field installa-tion, controls coordination, manufacturer-authorized start-up, testing, training, and closeoutdocumentation required to provide a complete operating boiler system.Prepared by Mannik & Smith GroupPage 1 of 12Adrian WWTP Boiler ReplacementBoiler Scope SpecificationMANDATORY EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTA. The required boiler equipment for this Project is two (2) Weil-McLain SVF-1500 condensinghot-water boilers.B. The specified boilers are not listed as a basis of design for comparison purposes. The specifiedboilers are the required equipment for this bid package.C. Contractors shall base their bids on furnishing and installing the exact boiler manufacturerand model specified herein, including factory boiler controls, required manufacturer accessories,compatible venting and combustion air components, condensate handling provisions, controlsinterface components, start-up services, and all appurtenances required for a complete installation.D. No alternate boiler manufacturer, alternate boiler model, alternate controls platform, alternateventing category, alternate communications architecture, or alternate equipment arrangementshall be provided unless specifically accepted by the Engineer and Owner by written addendumprior to bid opening.E. Post-bid substitution requests for the boiler package shall not be considered unless initiated bythe Owner or Engineer due to documented product unavailability, code compliance issue, orother condition determined by the Owner or Engineer to warrant reconsideration.F. Existing basement layout drawings and selected plan drawings are included in the Appendix forContractor reference, coordination, and field verification.B. Appendix drawings are provided to show available information regarding the existing boilerroom, basement arrangement, general equipment layout, access constraints, and related existingconditions.C. The Contractor shall review the Appendix drawings before bidding and shall coordinate theWork with the existing basement layout and indicated project requirements.D. Appendix drawings shall not relieve the Contractor of responsibility for field verification. TheContractor shall verify actual dimensions, elevations, access paths, rigging paths, door openings,structural clearances, utility locations, pipe routing, vent routing, combustion air routing,electrical service locations, controls locations, and other conditions affecting the Work.E. Where conflicts are identified between Appendix drawings, existing field conditions, projectdrawings, and the specified boiler package, the Contractor shall notify the Engineer beforeproceeding with affected Work.SUBMITTALSProduct DataManufacturer’s literature for the specified Weil-McLain SVF-1500boilers; dimensional data; connection sizes; venting requirements;control features; electrical requirements; communications capabilities;boiler performance data including input, output, efficiency, turndown,and working pressure; and data for all field-installed appurtenancesand accessories.Boiler PackageAppurtenancesSubmit data for all boiler package appurtenances furnished with orrequired for the specified boilers, including pressure relief valves,isolation devices, drains, gauges, thermometers, condensateneutralization components, combustion air components, ventaccessories, control interface components, Modbus communicationscomponents, sensors, switches, interlocks, and manufacturer-requiredaccessories.Shop DrawingsEquipment layout and service clearance requirements; boiler pipingschematic showing all field-installed trim and specialties; venting andcombustion air routing; condensate routing; and control drawingsprepared by the Contractor or boiler vendor showing control wiring,interlocks, Modbus communications architecture, BAS monitoringinterfaces, points list, and all required field terminations.Start-Up Documentation Manufacturer-authorized start-up report for each boiler, includingcontrol settings, combustion readings, safety verification, operationaltesting, alarms, lead/lag sequencing verification, and BAS monitoringverification.Prepared by Mannik & Smith GroupPage 3 of 12Adrian WWTP Boiler ReplacementBoiler Scope SpecificationCloseout SubmittalsSubstitution RequestsOperation and maintenance manuals; final approved submittals;start-up reports; commissioning support documentation; warrantycertificates; recommended maintenance schedule; replacement partslist; and warranty service contact information.Substitution requests are not permitted after bid unless specificallyrequested or accepted by the Owner or Engineer. Any substitutionrequest allowed prior to bid shall be submitted in sufficient time forreview and shall only be valid if approved by written addendum.QUALITY ASSURANCEA. Boilers shall be factory assembled, factory tested, and listed or certified for the intended service.B. Installer shall be experienced in commercial condensing boiler installation.C. Initial start-up shall be performed with support of a manufacturer-authorized representative orqualified factory-authorized service organization.WARRANTYHeat ExchangerPartsCommencement of WarrantyPeriodManufacturer’s standard non-prorated warranty, minimum 10years.Manufacturer’s standard non-prorated warranty, minimum 2years.Warranty shall commence upon Substantial Completion orsuccessful start-up, whichever occurs later, unless more stringentproject requirements apply.DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLINGA.
