FRESNO COUNTY FIREPROTECTION DISTRICTAvenue210 South AcademySanger, California 93657Telephone: (559) 493-4300Fax: (559) 875-8473February 6, 2026Addendum No. 1 Questions and Answers forRFQ 2026-103 Station 96 Roof ReplacementQ01 – Is there an asbestos ReportAt this time, there is no known asbestos-containing material associated with the existingroofing system, and no asbestos report is available for this project. Bidders shall include allcosts necessary to comply with applicable Cal/OSHA, EPA, and local regulations shouldasbestos or other hazardous materials be encountered during construction.Q02 – Please be advised that there are two (2) shingle roof systemsYes, that is correct. The existing building consists of two (2) distinct roof areas/systems.Bidders are to include all labor, materials, and coordination necessary to address both roofsystems as part of the base bid.Q03 – What kind of underlayment do you want? The steep slope roof area can get 1 layerof self-adhered membrane. The low slope (over the apparatus bay) will need 2 layers sinceit falls under the 2” per foot slope guidelines.The steep-slope roof areas shall receive one (1) continuous layer of self-adheredwaterproof membrane underlayment.The low-slope roof area over the apparatus bay shall receive two (2) layers of self-adheredwaterproof membrane underlayment, in accordance with manufacturer recommendationsand applicable code requirements for slopes less than 2:12. All underlayment materialsshall be compatible with the proposed roofing system.Q04 – Does this roof system need to fire rated?Yes. All roofing systems and associated materials shall be Class A fire rated and complywith applicable California Building Code, Fire Code, and local authority requirements.Q05 – Do you want a Weathertightness Warranty? If yes, for what duration? 10, 15, 20years?Yes, a weathertightness warranty is required. Please provide separate pricing formanufacturer-issued weathertightness warranties with durations of 10 years, 15 years, and20 years, covering the complete roof system, including materials and workmanship.Q6- Do you require a Bid Bond? If yes, we can use our standard forms.Yes, you can use your own formsHonor, Integrity, Cooperation & ProfessionalismQ07 – Do you want a unit cost to replace any damaged or dry rot roof sheathing? Wetypically give a unit cost per 4’x8’ sheet of plywood to match the existing.Yes. Please include a unit cost per 4’ x 8’ sheet of plywood to replace any damaged or dryrot roof sheathing, matching the existing thickness and material, if encountered.Replacement will be performed only as directed by the Owner.Q08 – What gauge/thickness metal roof panel and flashings do you want? Typically, thepanels are 22 or 24 gauge, and the flashings are 22 or 24 gauges. 22 gauge isrecommended. It’s more durable and will whether foot traffic better.Provide 26-gauge metal roof panels and 24-gauge metal flashings. All materials shall beinstalled in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.Q09 – What type of standing seam roof panel do you want? A Snap Lock system with anintermediate ribs is recommended to prevent oil canning.A Snap Lock standing seam roof panel system with intermediate ribs is acceptable andpreferred to help minimize oil canning. The system should be installed per manufacturers’recommendations and be compatible with warranty requirements.Q10 – Standard colors for the roof panels & flashings?Roof panel and flashing colors shall be selected from the manufacturer’s standard colorofferings. Final color selection will be made by the Owner after award.Q11 – There is an antenna over the living area. Is the antenna to be reinstalled or is itabandoned?Yes, the existing antenna shall be temporarily removed and reinstalled as part of theproject. The contractor shall coordinate directly with Fire Department staff to scheduleremoval and reinstallation and shall ensure proper integration with the new roof system andfull weatherproofing of all penetrations.Q12 – The existing gutters and downspouts are residential grade materials. You will neednew gutters and downspouts. They need to be integrated in the metal roof system.Yes, the existing gutters and downspouts shall be removed and replaced. Provide newcommercial-grade gutters and downspouts, fully integrated into the new metal roof system.All components shall be properly sized for the building and installed per manufacturerrequirements and applicable codes.Q13 – What is the engineers estimate, if there is one?There is no engineer’s estimate available for this project.Q14 – The ridge needs to be detailed for venting on both roof areas.Yes, the ridge should be detailed to provide continuous venting at both roof areas. All ridgeventing shall be compatible with the selected roof systemHonor, Integrity, Cooperation & Professionalism
