Project
Description
The project will include reconstruction of the existing paved multi-
purpose trails and parking areas, new retaining walls, and storm
drainage, landscaping, and various other ADA improvements.
Geotechnical
Characterization
Some areas of existing fill up to 5 of more feet deep.
Hand auger refusal occurred in all of the borings at the proposed
MSE/Gabion wall. Depths ranged from about 3 to 5½ feet.
Difficult excavation techniques may be required for excavations at
the MSE/Gabion wall.
Groundwater not observed in the borings during our exploration.
Earthwork
Existing lean clays, sandy silt, and silty sands can be used for
engineered fill.
Clays should not be used as wall backfill.

Introduction
This report presents the results of our subsurface exploration and Geotechnical
Engineering services performed for the proposed Improvements to Bunten Road Park.
The purpose of these services was to provide information and geotechnical engineering
recommendations relative to:
Hand auger boring logs with dynamic cone penetrometer (DCP) data.
Soil stratification based on visual soil classification.
Groundwater levels observed during and after the completion of drilling.
Site Location and Exploration Plans.
Subsurface exploration procedures.
Description of subsurface conditions.
Earthwork recommendations including use of on-site soils as structural fill,
structural placement, excavation conditions, groundwater control, and
site/subgrade preparation.
Comments on the stability of the slope and MSE wall and a design foundation
bearing pressure.
Measured walking trail pavement thicknesses at 6 locations.
Infiltration rate testing results at 4 on-site stormwater treatment facilities
Drawings showing the site and boring locations are shown on the Site Location and
Exploration Plans, respectively.
Project Description
Our initial understanding of the project was provided in our proposal and was discussed
during project planning. A period of collaboration has transpired since the project was
initiated, and our final understanding of the project conditions is as follows:
