ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Sealed Bids for the Adair County Bridge Work at Three Locations on BNSF Railway Line project will be
received by the Adair County Commission, at the office of the County Clerk 106 W. Washing St.,
Kirksville, MO) until 1:00 p.m. local time on December 30, 2025 at which time the bids received will be
publicly opened and read.
The project consists of three separate sites. Site 1: Cranberry Lane over BNSF Railways will consist of the
removal of an existing multi-span wood and steel bridge over an active railway, and the construction of
a new 184’ long single-span modern pre-engineered steel truss including a reinforced concrete deck,
concrete barrier rail, chain link fence, guardrail, earthwork, drilled shafts, concrete abutments, rock
blanket, roadway construction, traffic control, erosion control, utility relocation, and all appurtenances.
Site 2: Titan Lane over BNSF Railways will consist of the removal of an existing multi-span wood and
steel bridge over an active railway and the permanent closure of the crossing including earthwork,
erosion control, guardrail, traffic control, and all appurtenances. Site 3: Columbus Lane over Big Deer
Branch will consists of the construction of a 12’ x 50’ single cell concrete box culvert near BNSF Railways,
earthwork, rock blanket, roadway construction traffic control, erosion control, and all appurtenances.
The project is funded through BNSF Railways. Interim financing as reimbursement payments from BNSF
are processed shall be incidental to the project.
Contractor payments will be reimbursed to the County by BNSF, then to the contractor. Contractors
should be prepared to finance the project costs as reimbursement payments are processed.
Bids will be received for a single prime Contract. All project sites shall be included in the bid. Bids shall
be on a lump sum and unit price basis as indicated in the Bid Form.
Bidding Documents also may be examined at the office of the County Clerk, 311 N. Elson St, Kirksville,
MO, on Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.; and the office of the
Engineer, Howe Company, LLC 804 E. Patton Street, Macon, MO, on Mondays through Fridays between
the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Printed copies of the Bidding Documents may be obtained from the Issuing Office, during the hours
indicated above, upon payment of a non-refundable fee of $50.00 plus $25.00 shipping for each set.
Checks for Bidding Documents shall be payable to Howe Company, LLC. Upon request and receipt of the
document fee indicated above plus a non-refundable shipping charge, the Issuing Office will transmit
the Bidding Documents via delivery service. The date that the Bidding Documents are transmitted by the
Issuing Office will be considered the Bidder’s date of receipt of the Bidding Documents. Partial sets of
Bidding Documents will not be available from the Issuing Office. Bid Documents can also be obtained in
PDF form from www.howecompany.com. Neither Owner nor Engineer will be responsible for full or
partial sets of Bidding Documents, including Addenda if any, obtained from sources other than the
Issuing Office and www.howecompany.com. Bidders must obtain their bid documents from Howe
Company, LLC or www.howecompany.com and be on the plan holders list to bid the project.
Bid security shall be furnished in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders.
