Summary

It is the intentions of these specifications to provide sexual violence specific counseling for clients of the Center for Empowerment (The Center). These services shall be necessary in the event that there is a waiting list at The Center, a client is in need of culturally/ethnically sensitive counseling, or a client requires a therapist that speak a language other than English.

Background

The Middlesex County Center for Empowerment is the state designated sexual violence program for Middlesex County. The Center strives to support and empower survivors and significant other affected by sexual violence, and to help eliminate all forms of sexual violence through community awareness and education.

The Center provides the following services and programs:

• Short-term individual counseling (available to victims and significant others ages 13+)

• Arts and wellness programming

• Support groups

• Male survivor

• Adult survivors of child sexual abuse and adult sexual assault

• Advocacy

• 24 hour in-person support through the level process available at local police departments, all legal proceedings, and forensic evidence collection

• Crisis intervention, information, and referrals via The Center’s 24-hour hotline

• Assistance connecting to community and Statewide resources

• Prevention Education
