PART 1 - DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The bench fabricating contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, supervision and supplies

as required to design and fabricate four (4) total benches in accordance with the following specifications

at Earnest St., Johnson City, TN 37601.

Bids should reflect the cost of all materials and labor for fabrication of benches in accordance with the

attached specifications and site drawing.

The dimensions indicated on the spec drawing are the best obtainable, available data, but are not

guaranteed by the Owner and the Owner shall not be responsible for their accuracy or completeness.

Prior to ordering any material and proceeding with any work the bench fabricator shall verify in the field

all dimensions or conditions necessary to avoid construction errors. No additional compensation shall

be borne by the Owner due to the failure of the bench fabricator or his subcontractors to properly

coordinate the work with existing conditions. It shall be the bench fabricator’s responsibility to satisfy

themselves to the accuracy of all measurements during the construction process.

Installer Qualifications: The City of Johnson City will be installing the benches.

Use of tobacco products are strictly prohibited on all city facilities (both inside and outside). Use of

inappropriate, excessively loud, or vulgar language, gestures, or actions shall be prohibited by the

contractor, subcontractor or their employees.

GUARANTEE

Period: The benches shall include a minimum one year workmanship and materials guarantee.

PART 2 –

PRODUCTS

Benches:

• See attached specification sheet labeled: “Specialty-Series-Benches”. The benches specified in

this are a derivation of the swing specified. The bench will be based off of the 6’ dimension.

The specifications attached are to be used as guidance for bench design.

Bench Frame:

• Frames are aluminum or metal with a web thickness of 5/16” and a frame width of 1 ½” unless

otherwise approved by owner.

• A design submittal will be required.

Bench Seat:

• Expanded seat is fabricated from ¾” #9 steel mesh. The sheet metal will be machine rolled,

forming the seat’s contour shape. Support braces, adding support to the benches contour

shape, are ¼” x 1 ¼” flat bar steel. There will be two (2) 32” wide places to sit with a steel bar

separating the two sections (see bench arms for specifications). The two sections will be divided

down the center of the bench.

• The bench seat will also feature the “JC” logo in the back rest. This will be laser cut into the

sheet metal. The dxf file will be attached.

• A design submittal will be required.

Bench Arms:

• Bench arms shall be fabricated from ¾” #9 steel mesh. The sheet metal will be machine rolled

forming the arms’ contour shape to match the contour of the bench.

• A design submittal will be required.

Bench Legs:

• 2” x 2” steel will be used for the legs. The legs will be welded onto the frame. The leg supports

will have four (4) holes to attach anchor bolts so that the benches will not be able to be moved.

• A design submittal will be required.

Bench Coating:

• The entirety of the bench will need to be rubber coated in Plascoat PPA 571, or approved equal.

• The rubber material will be the color black.

• A design submittal will be required.
