Project Description
Scope of Work: This project involves the renovation of Portsmouth Square, an existing public park located above the Portsmouth Square parking garage in San Francisco’s Chinatown district. The project will demolish nearly all existing park features and the Kearny Street pedestrian bridge. The existing upper-level restrooms and the parking garage below will remain in place. The plaza will be completed with new drainage and waterproofing, new paving, landscape planters, irrigation, decorative walls, stairs, curbs, railings, shade structures, playground structures, lighting, and electrical systems. Architectural work includes the construction of a clubhouse building and select retrofit of structural concrete. The existing Hilton Hotel building at the east side of the pedestrian bridge as well as the parking garage below shall be occupied and used by the public during construction.

The program requires that all contractors and subcontractors who bid or work on a public worksproject register and pay an annual fee to the California Department of Industrial Relations (“DIR”).No contractor or subcontractor may be listed in a bid or awarded a contract for a public works projectunless registered with the DIR as required by Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions fromthis requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].This Project shall incorporate the required partnering elements for Partnering Level 4.
