Overview
Summary
The County of Sacramento, Department of Child, Family and Adult Services is seeking a qualified agency centered around child/youth advocacy (emphasis on child protective factors and family well-being) to provide staffing support, coordination, meeting facilitation, and coalition management for the Sacramento County Children’s Coalition (SCCC), the Welcome Home Community Advisory Board (CAB), and SCCC Committees.
Background

The SCCC serves as an advisory body to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors on matters relating to the needs of children, youth and families. Membership consists of up to thirty (30) members representing various seats including public/consumers, youth, and professionals working in child/family serving fields. The SCCC conducts one general membership meeting per month; the CAB conducts meetings as needed; and the SCCC Committees follow a specific schedule of either monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly.

The SCCC primary responsibilities include:

  • Working cooperatively with related County departments and advisory bodies;
  • Assessing community needs concerning children and their families; and evaluating existing services;
  • Prioritizing identified needs and developing appropriate plans for addressing issues;
  • Reviewing and making recommendations on related budget and policy issues;
  • Serving as a forum for community concerns; and
  • Providing information and education on Sacramento County-specific issues.

The SCCC requires an external agency, centered around child/youth advocacy (emphasis on child protective factors and family well-being), to provide staffing support, coordination, meeting facilitation, and coalition management. The successful agency will:

  1. Work with the SCCC Chair/Vice-Chairs respectively, to support SCCC general meetings, CAB meetings, and SCCC committee meetings with:
    1. Providing support through a child/youth well-being advocacy lens;
    2. Facilitating and assisting with the development of priorities and activities;
    3. Meeting preparation (agenda creation, speaker identification and scheduling, materials preparation, meeting notices in compliance with Brown Act);
    4. Meeting support and logistics (room set-up and breakdown and/or zoom meeting set-up and support);
    5. Meeting follow-up (draft and distribute meeting minutes, follow-up on issues raised during meeting);
    6. Coordinating membership recruitment to ensure broad representation from the community;
    7. Providing/coordinating technical assistance and/or training for members, as needs arise;
    8. Maintaining and distributing membership rosters; and
    9. Maintaining SCCC email box and website content.

Budget: Annual amount not to exceed $50,000.
