Bid Attributes

1 Overview

Iowa State University (ISU) is seeking qualified professional services to restore data contained on 151 LTO-7 data

tapes. These data tapes are holding an estimated ~770TiB/850TB of data, written using Retrospect version 18.2.

89 of the tapes are labeled as primary, and 62 are labeled as backups. If files are identified as clones during this

process, we do not need duplicate files restored. The majority, if not all, of the files on these tapes are AV

preservation files.

The catalogs on the LTO tapes need to be rebuilt, the data reviewed for duplication, selected files restored,

checksums generated for the selected files, and both the files and checksums transferred back to us so that the

data is accessible going forward.

Our preference is for the data to be transferred back to us through Iowa State University's cloud based storage

(Azure Blob). Alternate methods may be through cloud storage, secure FTP transfer, hard drives, or new LTO data

tapes. Price will be a determining factor. Suppliers are encouraged to provide quotes that provide pricing for the

different options they offer.

their proposed process and solution. The current anticipated week for these presentations is March 2nd - March

6th.
