General ConditionsStump Grinding Specifications1.1 The purpose of this project is to remove tree stumps within designated municipal areas to improvepublic safety, aesthetics, and land usability. The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment,and services necessary to complete the stump grinding and site restoration in accordance with thespecifications outlined below.1.2 The Contractor shall make every attempt to protect all public and private property adjacent to the worksite and along all hauling routes. Any damage to public or private property shall be the soleresponsibility of the contractor and shall be repaired to the satisfaction of the owner of the propertyinvolved.1.3 All safety requirements of the contractor shall be in accordance with the latest revision of applicableOSHA standards and the American National Safety Standards, ANSI Z133.1.4 Contractor will be responsible for providing all traffic control devices such as cones, flashers andbarricades. No street shall be closed unless approved by the City Forester.1.5 Methods and manner used in removal shall be subject to the approval of the City Forester. Contractorshall carry appropriate liability insurance coverage, including but not limited to Public LiabilityInsurance in the amount of $1,000,000 per person, $500,000 per accident, and property damage in theamount of $300,000 per accident. Contractor shall provide City a Certificate of Insurance naming theCity of West Fargo as an additional insured, and such insurance must be maintained during the term ofthis Agreement and any extension agreed to thereafter.1.6 Contractor must provide a Certificate of Workers Compensation Coverage and possess a current NDContractors License. No work on Saturday and Sunday, unless specifically requested by the CityForester or Contractor.1.7 The contractor will protect, defend and indemnify the city, its officers, agents, servants, volunteers andemployees for any and all liabilities, claims, liens, fines, demands and costs including legal fees, ofwhatsoever kind and nature which may result in injury or death to any persons, including thecontractor’s own employees, and for loss or damage to any property, including property owned or in thecare, custody or control of the city in connection with or in any way incident to or arising out of theoccupancy, use, service, operations, performance or non-performance of work in connection with thiscontract resulting in whole or in part from negligent acts or omissions of Contractor, any sub-contractor,or any employee, agent or representative of the Contractor.2. Scope of Work2.1 The contractor shall perform stump grinding services at specified locations as determined by the City ofWest Fargo. List of locations will be provided by City Forester.2.2 Contractor will be responsible for ND One Call utility locates.2.3 Grinding stumps to a minimum depth of 18 inches below ground level.2.4 Removing all above-ground portions of the stump and visible roots.2.5 Removing and properly disposing of excess wood chips and debris.A. Free disposal at City of West Fargo Landfill.B. Grindings shall be swept off sidewalk, driveway and street areas immediately.2.6 Filling the hole with soil and leveling the ground to match the surrounding grade.2.7 Restoring the site with quality screened soil, free of rock and debris. To account for settling, soil shall bemounded with a minimum of 4” above existing grade.2.8 Seeding the locations will not be required in this project.3. Payment3.1 Payment shall be made based on a per stump removal rate and completion.3.2 Payment will be made upon completion of project.A. Partial payment is available upon request.4. Site Inspections and Work Verification4.1 The contractor shall inspect all work sites before beginning operations to assess stump sizes,accessibility, and potential obstacles.4.2 A City of West Fargo representative may inspect and approve completed work before final payment.4.3 Any delays must be communicated to the City of West Fargo.
